How To Make a Hamachi Server for you and you friends in TF2/Any Source Engine Game

How to easily make a TF2 Private server using the program Hamachi

Intro

In this guide. This will go step by step through how to make a server using Hamachi in TF2 or any source game for that matter. Lets get started.

The Downloads.

There is really only one thing you need for this to work beside's TF2. Hamachi. Hamachi is available online for free at: https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/download.aspx Make sure to download the UNMANAGED.

Hamachi Server Setup

The next step is in Hamachi.

If you need to join an existing network. When you launch it will ask you to "Join a Network". If your friends don't already have the app just cancel and skip it. If they do imput the details of the Hamachi network they are hosting. Read the next part if this didnt make sense and you arent hosting.

If you need to host a network. Go up to the top and click "Network" and "Create and New Network" make up some details along with a password and give it to the people you will be playing with to join.

Once that is done you can open TF2 and prepare the server

Ingame Server Setup

Once in TF2 press the button to host a server. If you have a custom HUD I cant tell you where that would be. But for the default HUD it is on the choose server bar and is a plus symbol.

MAKE SURE WHEN YOU ARE CHOOSING THE MAP TO NOT HAVE IT ON THE ONE YOU ARE GOING TO BE PLAYING ON.
Go into the game settings on the second tab and remove any password. (Hamachi will make it private anyway.)

Once the map has loaded and you are in alone in your private server, open the console using the ~ (to the left of 1) key. Then in the console you need to type two commands.

1. sv_lan 0
And then
2. the map of your choice. eg. cp_dustbowl

This should then load the new map and you will be in it as normal.

Congragulations! This is now a fully joinable server!

Now all your friend needs to join is your ip.

This is found above your computers name in Hamachi and shoud look like 25.23.21.83 or something like that.

Your friend then simply goes into their console and types
connect <ip adress here>
eg. connect 25.23.21.83
