Waystation

Description
The Waystation area is a crater in the rocky plateau separating the Cordon, Darkscape, and the Dark Valley. Stalkers found their way here through the tunnel east of the Cordon and avoiding the connecting tunnel to Darkscape. Originally named for the towering waystation of the train bridge, rookies have mistakenly attributed the name to the old weather station to the northwest. Due to the area’s geography, and the pumping station to the southeast lacking power, the rainwater has pooled. Mutants are few, save for the catfish, which can be found in many of the larger pools.

The Waystation’s lack of real dangers, and its proximity to the perimeter, led the Ministry of Education to establish an Ecologist research post at the weather station. Manned mainly by new scientists looking to jump-start their careers through Zone research, it has been modified to measure and predict emissions. Unfortunately for the ambitious scientists, there’s little else of interest save for the “Sticks and Stones” Lift anomaly to the east, and the dark and flooded underground, which they are too inexperienced and ill-equipped to brave.

This map is a reimagining of a custom level known as “Hidden Road” or “Hidden Valley” from mods such as F.O.T.O.G.R.A.F. and New Arsenal for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Almost the entire level has been overhauled due to the original being empty. Inspiration for the area was taken from a blend of the Cordon and the Great Swamp, and the bridge was taken from the "Bridge over Pripyat River" cut from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. The ideas and lore were co-created by Goose. It can be found under the Roleplay section, as rp_waystation.
