Description
Have you ever found it strange that children pawns speak the same dialogue as adult pawns? Well, I did, and someone else did at one point...but they deleted their mod.

This is a complete overhaul of the interactions seen in the mod Speak Up. As such, Speak Up is required.


What does it add

  • Unique dialogue for child pawns 4 and under. Babbling, broken English, and all.
  • Dialogue for multiple mods, including:
  • Pawnmorpher
  • Babies and Children 1.3
  • Dub's Bad Hygiene
  • Cutebolds
  • Nyarons
  • Anthros
  • VSIE
  • VTE
  • Bundle of Traits
  • Probably more

Compatibility
Should be compatible with everything

The dialogue spoken is a broken form of English, as I tried to emulate how children have difficulties pronouncing "R's", and how the oftentimes speak with incorrect pronouns, prepositions, etc...and after making this mod I think I'm fluent in toddler language.


I added interactions for many mods as seen above, and I know I probably forgot a few of them. If you don't have one of the mods installed, the dialogue simply won't be used.

Fair warning, you may get annoyed by the children, especially if you have multiple little brats running around your colony. You may end up like Adult Pawns who dislike children...

This version contains no swearing. It's entirely possible I missed a swear word in my edits, if you find any, let me know and I will gladly remove the word.

See how long you can play with a colony full of children before you commit your first war crime.

If you encounter any issues, let me know, preferably with a log if possible

To do

  • More interactions - Prisoner interactions are complete, but I was having issues with adult to children interactions, needs fixed.
  • Clean up code - This is my first mod, and I've learned a lot in the process. As such, a lot of the XML can be written cleaner and more intelligently. For example, some dialogue can be separated from the parent patch, just needs a PatchOperation=Replace. Why some of them aren't like this already...well, see the first sentence of this bullet.

@OrangeQuill - It's safe to ignore, it's just a part of the main SpeakUp mod.

I got this weird (and very minor bug) where my mod manager is saying this mod needs a 0.0.0 Version of speak up??? I dont think it affects much in game just inconvenient to leave the mod list from the warning

How about instead of waiting around for that to maybe be added, you go over to the comments of speakup and ask the dev to add that?

@PHCGamer - The mod was never broken, it's just a matter of the parameters not being built into the speakup mod. The team would need to add the lifestages parameter in order for me to truly fix the issue.

If speakup doesn't have the tools needed, ask them to fix that lack of tools.

I asked the PM devs again, and they responded with: "I have provided all i can offer. Either they find a different way to handle it than looking only on age, or it's an unfixable conflict.
A conflict mind you that - as i mentioned - is not PM specific, but will also impact any other mod with "sentient" adult pawns below the arbitrary age values they defined."
