Presenting the Astra Mk II, the latest build from Filbert Shipyards!

The Astra Mk II is a complete top to bottom redesign of one of my older builds, the Valeru MMC, for Reforged 1.7. The Astra Mk II is a modular carrier featuring 6 bays that fit my new Astra Modules. The Astra is designed to have a similar style to Jrandall's Helios modules while being closer to the size of the Script HDs Mojura modules. In fact the Astra scale is only slightly wider than a modjura but that extra width opens up many possibilities!

The Astra Mk II is meant to serve as a mobile carrier/base. It features aspects from each of its standard modules. These features can be expanded as the user desires by adding the corresponding module type.

The Astra can be parked with turrets on and shields up and not burn any fuel if the thrusters are turned off!

I have made two carriers (this one and another) that use the Astra Modules and a total of 7 different module types. I will try to spread them out a bit so as to not spam too much onto the workshop all at once ;)

NOTE: I got a comment on one of the module pages about docking. When docking the goal is to line up your cross-hair center onto the 'plus' sign for a seamless dock.

To make the connection easier follow these steps:
1) Start by lining up with the bottom arrow below the plus sign in the docking LCD.
2) When you are up to the LCD and lined up with the arrow, raise up the module until it contacts the roof of the docking bay on the carrier
3) Finish by going forward to make the connection, using the 'plus' sign to line up with your cross-hairs for the connection

This is generally self-explanatory, but i thought i'd lay it out just in case anyone has issues.
I added three pics at the end of the pic series showing the progression of docking.

Specs:
-12x 320k cargo systems
-1x 320k ammo system
-20,850 hp shield
-4x drive thrusters with room to upgrade to 6x drive thrusters
-Advanced consturctor with room for 3x more constructors/deconstructors
-36 growplot farm built-in
-6x gatling turrets with room to add 12 more turrets
-room to add 18 quantums/aux cores in armored storage areas
-6x Astra Module docking bays

love this ship. just doing a run on Re2 with the mkV.. new one has stunning shape and external block work is a master piece but the internal is kinda hap hazzard with research table and tele shoved down a ladder in some random side room . it lacks the character and function of this one. I miss shuffling the crew,the storage, the farms,6 bays...... This is by far my fave build and gives all the function of an explorer cv while I save for the modules. please do an Re2 update. im nothing of the builder you've proven to be and wouldn't do it justice :)

Try selecting a different build then select this one again maybe? I haven't messed with that new setting in RE yet because our server is waiting to use it or not until it is more refined/polished

Any idea why it is wanting HV skill unlocks for this build?

@Grimm Spector there are two rooms, one on each side; the doors that lead to the warp drive and shield gen pass through the CPU expansion areas. The spots are behind shutter doors

Where do you put the quantum/aux cores? I can't find the space mentioned.

Also @Popeye why'd you have to do so much work on lights?

this was a PAIN to build, but totally worth it. Had to spend 3 hours on the lights settings though.

Just got the resources to spawn the scripted version of this ship. Said a fond farewell to my Atheos II. On to bigger things. We're headed to the Drone Lands and need something bigger that can handle more modules. Love the series, love the ships and station. Excited to embark on our journey, now, with this creation. It's the bigger Atheos II--yes!

I find the modules in this one the perfect size, others are too big or too small.
I highly recommend this carrier. I have created scripted versions of most of Fiberfarmers modules.
Very sexy carrier and very useful for one that does not need any extra cores.
