How to set-up The Divinity 2 engine (or specifically here: to solve the crashing on start-up)
De Tzard Nickolas "The Lit" Romanov
Thought i'd post how to set up the mod tool up for Divinity Original Sin 2 as it didn't originally work when I first set it up and the fix I found didn't quite work; thought i'd post it here and what *I, personally* did to make it work.

(Also sorry about the Guide picture btw, I know its ♥♥♥♥ but I can't post the guide without one, steams Reqs of the guide picture are also kinda garbo in all honesty *and* I could'nt think of a more better one Rather then the forum topic/thread on the game Forums).

The Steps on how/what you need to install
Firstly, install the mod tool, to install this tool. you'll need to look under the Tool section in your Library

just type "Divinity 2" in there and it should show.

Secondly, You'll need to download the dlc data folder/content. To do this here; go to the *base game* in your steam library, once found right click the *base game* you should see a drop down menu once shown, click the *properties* option shown there, from there on navigate/go to the section that say's "*dlc*" once you have clicked on the "dlc" section, two boxes will show up; the top one should not be activated or checked-off and the bottom-one should be checked-off.......*Click the said empty box and make sure you have check-marked it* there now it is done, you have to wait quite a bit for it to download.

Thirdly, once everything has been downloaded; click the "The Divinity 2 engine" in Tools.

Fourthly, A pop-up should show, saying that you need to fill in the location of/to the data folder.

-Option A: you can try this out first, if this doesn't succeed we'll try Option B.
So what you want to do (or put there) is this:

E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\DefEd\Data

(or wherever you have placed YOUR files at, which will most likely be
here;
C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\DefEd\Data
as this is the standard, default steam install location. The E path one, is where
MINE is located at).

See if it crashes after you have done this or not......

-Option B, if it has crashed, do this: You'll need to go to the mod tool's folder (which is located here;
C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Divinity Engine 2 or wherever
YOU may have it at).

Once found; Go to the "Config.xml" that will be there within it. (heads-up you need a .txt editor for this: Either standard notepad will suffice or Notepad++ , I don't care which you use here. just use one)

once selected with a .txt editor go to the line that says:

"<DataPath>E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\DefEd\Data\</DataPath>"

(Don't worry it's not that complicated to understand here, within that line take out just the "\DefEd" part, it'll now ((or should)) look like this):

"<DataPath>E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\Data\</DataPath>"

(Edit: Reminder to put YOUR, OWN LOCATION IN HERE, INSTEAD OF MINE!)

once saved here, re-launch it again via steam.

-Option C: If you have done this, completely ass-backwards before or did it the *opposite* way or if you have noticed that it is not here beforehand coming to this guide; you'll want to ADD, the "\DefEd" part into it in , instead of REMOVING it, like you did (or would've done) in Option B, so it's vice versa here.

Thanks for Viewing the Guide.
As the title says, and hopefully this has helped you in someway. Cheers.
