Description
Current Features

This mod aims to add the race of alien creatures known as Typhon[prey.fandom.com], from the game Prey. (If you've never played Prey, play it! It's good, and I'll try to keep out spoilers here)

A quick list of things you can expect are...
Typhon: Mimics, Weavers, Phantoms, Cystoids.
Misc: Recipes for skill/psytrainers (In the fabrication bench, for now.)

In general, here's my thought process on prioritization of work on this mod. Do I always follow this list? Definitely not. But I try to.






Mod Compatibility
You can find a list of known compatibility issues here[github.com]. They are the lowest task on my priorities, but always on my mind. If I think of a way to easily solve them, I will.

FAQ
Can I add this mod mid-save?
Yes and no. This mod adds a faction for behavior to work correctly. You'll need Vanilla Expanded Framework for that to allow adding the Typhon faction when it discovers them.

Is this a playable race?
No. It wasn't the scope starting out, but I think it would be interesting to take it that direction. Once I flesh out all the typhon creatures, I'll come back and think about it.

How do I craft skilltrainers?
Via the fabrication bench, using some Typhon organs, gold, and advanced components.

How can I help?
For anyone: Join the discord and pitch ideas! I'm very willing to talk about cool stuff!
For players: testing and leaving comments on any interesting discovery does loads for my motivation! If you've got cool screenshots or videos, I'd love to hear them! Drop by my discord down below in the links and show me something cool!
For developers: The code is open source! Feel free to submit pull requests. There are issues on the repository marked as "help needed" for things I'm not 100% sure how to do.
For owners of Prey 2015: Videos and screenshots of existing or upcoming things to be added would be great help to the artists of this mod. Issues requiring screenshots of prey stuff can be found here.[github.com]

@PoisonCoder but your name is PoisonCoder how do you not code for shame.

Anyway yeah I agree the last update is thematically kinda perfect for this. At this point the project would have to start from scratch or whatever. I honestly wouldn't mind if people reused my assets to rebuild the mod from scratch and handle it, but it's not something I could fund, nor one that I'm really interested in reaching out myself. I don't even actually play Rimworld anymore these days.

The amount of modding I'd need to do to make this game enjoyable to me has left me with the decision that I'm better off just making my own game, so I'm doing that now.

@Caaz Hey I'm a huge Prey fan and loved this mod back in 1.4. I assume you've seen the Anomaly DLC and how perfectly this mod would integrate into it. I understand that other things are taking center-stage in your life right now, so I think you should reach out to a modder you know or something to see if they could take up this project. I know the Vanilla Expanded crew is working on a bunch of Anomaly content, so maybe theme (as if they don't have enough on their plate). You said this mod is open source but I have 0 coding experience except for like a Python class in 8th grade, so I can't do anything here. I would hate to see this mod completely die right before the perfect expansion for it arrived, but life ain't life, I guess.

Alright understood. Just disappointed cause while it never did a whole lot it was always fun after a raid to have a mimic turn into like 10 and then get mowed down by turrets.

@TylerDurden12 It is dead. Granted it's open source, anyone could work on it, I personally do not have the time to invest in it. My career has to come first and unfortunately this project took too much of my time to maintain or work on.

This is a really interesting concept for an enemy and perfect for an horror modlist. I hope you decide to comeback to work on it again at some point.

Ah, @Bacon I apologize, I've had a rough time this year and honestly I don't have much time to work on modding these days. I've had to really focus on my career as of late.

Version 3 on github is mostly an in-progress rewrite, but it's safe to say that that is on hold for the forseeable future. It doesn't have much content, and it's not built the same as previous versions.

I could absolutely keep things up to date if someone wanted to take on the code work, but I myself cannot dedicate time to it.

Wanted to add onto my previous comment. Typhon does not seem to be spawning in events. Tried spawning them in a raid using dev mode to no effect. Mod is a very cool find, will be looking forward to the future update.

Version 2.3 had issues with other mods that had casting such as Dragon's Decent and Rimworld of Magic. Fortunately version 3.0 on github fixed the issue with Dragons Decent, transferred the save over (didn't have any Typhon on the map) and seems to work after a few hours.
