Key strategic elements to consider when playing Wraith King:
  • With the Bone Guard facet, if you have a strong level 2 powerspike on the lane, skill Vampiric Spirit on level 2, build up skeletons, release them on level 2 and use Wraithfire Blast when all creeps die.
  • Use Wraithfire Blast to secure ranged creep last hits by either stunning the creep or an enemy hero.
  • Use Mortal Strike in combination with your Spectral Blade to poke and harass your opponents.
  • With the Bone Guard facet, when farming jungle, try not to let your skeletons tank neutral creeps too much.
  • With the Bone Guard facet, when neutral camp is at 30% of total health, move to the next camp to have your skeletons follow you by providing them with a new target.
  • With the Bone Guard facet, you should have Bone Guard maxed out at level 7 to increase farming speed.
  • Consider keeping a skill point on level 6 for Reincarnation or invest it in spells that will improve your farming speed if you are jungling.
  • Once you have a Blink Dagger, focus on killing backliners or supports first.
  • Mana burn is a big problem for the Wraith King. Consider getting an early BKB or Aghanims Shard against mana burn heroes or Diffusal Blade carriers.
  • If you took the Bone Guard facet, your skeletons are not super useful in teamfights. Use them to push out lanes or after fights to take the buildings.

Main skill and item combo order: Blink Dagger => Wraithfire Blast => Attack

Power level during the game:
  • Laning phase: Medium (1.8 out of 3)
  • Mid Game: High (2.1 out of 3)
  • Late Game: High (2.6 out of 3)
  • Very late game: High (2.5 out of 3)
