Next War Korea 2nd Edition

Description
Sixty years of tense, uneasy peace are shattered as the Korean Peninsula erupts in renewed warfare. One historically, ethnically, and culturally homogeneous people polarized and separated by superpower politics and economics hurl men, weapons, and material into the maelstrom of modern combat in an attempt to settle their arbitrary division once and for all.

From Pyongyang in North Korea to Busan in the South, the war rages. In a scene reminiscent of the first attack by the In Min Gun in 1950, the North Korean People’s Army surges across the Demilitarized Zone and penetrates deep into South Korea.

Special Operations Forces from both sides conduct raids, interdiction, and reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines while airborne, air assault, and amphibious forces strike far behind those lines attempting to outflank the main army forces of both sides. In the air, both sides wage a heated campaign in an effort to establish superiority over the skies of Korea. With rough terrain and the full ferocity of modern armor, airmobile, airborne, and marine warfighting capabilities, there is no safe haven in the lethal cauldron of battle which has engulfed the Korean Peninsula.

While North and South battle for a quick, decisive victory, the world awaits the response of the two military superpowers in the region: the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China. Will the United States, stung by high casualties among the soldiers of its 2nd Infantry Division near the DMZ during the surprise artillery barrages and initial assaults on the first day of the war, be able to reinforce the South quickly enough, and, if so, how and in what strength? Will the Communist Chinese again react (or pre-emptively intervene) to a massive US response and join the fray, thus widening the conflict? As the situation evolves, choices are made, forces are committed, and the security of Japan and the future of the two Koreas hangs in the balance.

Updated with Supplemental 1, 2, & 3 markers!
some of the other rules of supplemental 3 are incomplete, but the new ROK OOB has been added as an option!

Included is every player aid needed to properly play the game, as well as every optional unit I'm aware of, however for right now I have not included the alternate air system which may come at a later date.

Check out Next War Vietnam on Tabletop sim here!:

If you are new to the series I suggest playing Next War: India-Pakistan uploaded by another creator here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2638789212&searchtext=next+war
It is a much smaller scale game and is easier to play due to not having to worry about naval units.
This workshop upload also includes the optional alternate advanced air system from supplemental 1, if you wish you can save the parts available there and load it on this game.

Link to the storefront for the physical game here:

Uses the Stack Exploder script available here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2134584163&searchtext=stack
If you have a game in progress without the newest update you can save and add the red cube module from this page and it will work, just right click a stack and press explode

Some of the reinforcement numbers on the markers can be difficult to read due to image compression, in a playtest game I was able to place all of them in their appropriate location, but if you have difficulty it may help to check out the image gallery on the Board Game Geek website. as high quality scans of all the counter sheets have been uploaded there and may help with referencing the correct numbers

If you notice any issues or errors with the game feel free to report and I will try to fix them.

Normal ROK reinforcements are as listed in the Game specific rules and scenario information. If using the new OOB from Supplemental 3, it's use is detailed in the Supplemental 3 rulebook included

Is the ROK reinforcement schedule included? I can't find it.

Feel free to use any of the assets here, just note you might need to scale the map down. I intentionally made it larger than the real game so you can fit several counters in the same hex without needing to stack them, but the large map size might make it awkward to fit within the maximum TTS region size if it needs to share space with NWT and NWV

Hey, Flergnerg, I am making a combined module of NWK, NWT, and NWV for TTS. I would like your permission to use your Korea map for it. I still haven't figured out how to get the two maps to fuse like you did.
Johanski Mar 6, 2022 @ 11:33pm
Oh, one thing, the Japanese air OOB in NWK2e is a total of 6 units. The other half of it come from NWT (6 identical units). With a full Japanese intervention, you get to use all 12. I just hit clone when i play, but you might want to have the extra 6 from NWT added to the stacks near the air display

Thanks! I'll keep searching for and reporting any counters that I know should be replaced
Flergnerg  [author] Mar 6, 2022 @ 6:46pm
Thanks for the feedback! There are so many different errata updates and replacement counters across all the games its so hard to stay on top of it! I've added an updated collection of optional updated counters from NWV, though I don't know if I got them all. also for nutter1st's question a bag for shuffling purposes was added to the Air tracking table.

Any chance you can update the counter OOB to the Next War Vietnam standard. For example, the CW OOB has changed a ton. 31 MEU was readded. 3/25th was changed to an infantry brigade. The REPL markers for the CW and the JP forces.

Is there a way to shuffle the stacks, to randomise the skill of the planes drawn?
