Guns of the Empire already covers some of the ideas you have. The Reiksgewehr have a powerful hand cannon with heavy armor and good melee. The
Kriegsritter are a sharpshooting Dragoon.
Warhammer lore has a weapon called the Thrice-Pistol, which a unit in Guns if the Empire uses. I may do that unit, but mounted as an elite Pistolier.
The Roadwardens are a light armored pistol Cavalry with limited range and ammo but much better melee than Pistoliers.
I think I want to do Cuirassiers as a medium armored melee cavalry with Pistolier-tier speed and vanguard.
One of the limitation is the animation sets available to use or what I can realistically make.
Harquebusiers as an uparmored (breastplate, helmet, some off-hand armor), slower outrider with some slightly better melee capability would be neat, as well as Reiters as a medium hybrid unit with yet more armor [upload.wikimedia.org] than a harquebusier.
