none of the official arma 3 story missions ever have you to use the j key to pick up items, that's not what it's used for. it's used for quickly viewing and marking as well as unmarking tasks without having to go into your map. the field manual and the arma 3 community wiki never mentions anything about using the task and diary key to pick up items.
useful key, but not for the reason this guy is telling you.
Hold J (or whatever button you have to highlight tasks) and move the pointer over the phone, game will prioritize this object and show you the "pick up intel" action.Voila, now you can progress.
This has been there for ages and idk why you can't just learn basic Arma 3 functions but shit on mission makers instead.
