Simple Levels

Description
1.4.4 version of this.

Simple Levels aims to add a levelling system to the game with the sole intent of making the game easier and not interfering with any other mod.

Keybinds:
Show Level info: displays level, xp and buffs in chat.

Configs allow you to control nearly every aspect of the mod. Be wary very large numbers can result in negative damage or health. You can readjust that in the main menu anytime if something does go wrong.

The rules on how you earn XP:
At least one player has landed a hit on the enemy.
The enemy's attack is higher than 0 (critters).
The enemy's health is higher than 1 (projectiles you can break).
The enemy doesn't have invulnerable parts (Crawltipede, only viable workaround for an enemy that would otherwise give out bonkers amount of xp for how easy it is to kill).

That honestly sounds reliable enough to be playable but the problem is that *that* isn't really working. XP is being given to players that have never hit an enemy/weren't the last one to hit which is the issue IMO

I appreciate the quick reply btw, and I understand it not being worth taking the time to craft some complicated BS for one person's request. I see there's source code on GitHub, maybe I'll fork it and try (and fail) to poke around in the guts myself lmao

@Polaria, I can't track either. Best I could do was check the last player that hit an enemy.
Game doesn't track anything else than that on a per-creature basis, so I'd have to custom craft something for that and it is way more work than it's worth.

Hi, I know this mod hasn't been updated in a very long time. I use this mod in multiplayer with a few friends and I like the mod but I've noticed that all players online seem to gain XP at an exactly equal rate (ex. I kill a shark at one ocean while a friend is at the exact opposite ocean and still somehow receives XP for it). If a player is offline and can't receive XP while I'm online for example though I can level independently of them.

Maybe it would be a good idea to add a condition to earning XP that you have to have landed a hit on the killed enemy in order to earn XP? Or at least that you're in proximity of the target, like 200 tiles or something. Config options for both could be useful as well.

The mod never had any popups for xp.
You sure you're not confusing this with one of the many other level mods out there.
I just tested it with a fresh character and successfully got it to level 5.

I mean, the mod is simply not adding any xp no matter what I kill. For example, I killed a zombie, usually it says the amount of xp it gives in blue font on the screen, now I get no such pop-up. And then on top of that, the mod gives no xp even in chat, so no level boosts or anything.

I need more info than that.
There's a few things that will never give xp, that being critters (0 attack), enemy projectiles you can break and stuff that have invulnerable body parts like the crawtipede.
Please open a discussion with screenshots so we can troubleshoot that, the mod is working fine for me.

For whatever reason, I'm not gaining any xp, regardless of what config.

One kill to become a God!! But in all seriousness glad you found it rather quickly and hope it isn't too much of a pain to fix :)
