GWR Green 2-4-0 Tank Engine

Description
This is based on the preserved 1366 class Pannier Tank No. 1369, and more specifically the modern GWR livery she carried for just one day in May 2017. This was her last day in service on her previous boiler ticket, before being withdrawn for an overhaul. Fortunately 1369 returned to service in October 2021, and is now carrying the original Great Western Railway green livery.

When I say ‘modern GWR livery’, I’m referring to the present-day train operating company that uses the same name as the classic GWR. It was created in 2015 through a rebranding of First Great Western. One of the trains operated by the modern GWR is the controversial Class 800 or ‘IET”. Perhaps a more respectable member of GWR’s fleet is the Class 158 Sprinter.

For reference, GWR 1369 was built in 1934 as part of the 6-strong 1366 class. These little engines were designed by Charles Collett, and were unique in that they were the first of only two post-grouping GWR pannier tanks designs with outside cylinders (the second being the Hawksworth-designed 15xx class). The class remained in service well into the British Railways era, with the final example being withdrawn from service in 1964. Only one of these engines ~ No. 1369 ~ has survived into preservation, and she is based at the South Devon Railway.

Seeing this paint scheme of yours, had me traveling down memory lane today, thinking of my long since deceased Brother & his favorite color Green. Seeing the included snapshot of the real Z48 gave me inspiration to try my hand at recreating its general shape, Wish me luck!. Again, Thank You for the inspiration.
