Description
The London Underground 1938 stock avaiable in the standard 4+3 formation, but I also added more common formations 3+3 and 4+4 for those who hate asymetrical trains. I matched stats to where I could in real life, but there is limited information so capacity, acceleration and cost are all balanced to the default LU Stock ingame to make it cheaper to run due to the far lower top speed.

Now, time for a history lesson:

Up until recently, the 1938 stock was the oldest train still in service on the British rail network, working under witness protection as the Class 483 on the Isle of Wight between Shanklin and Ryde, however they were withdrawn for good in 2021 due to all but 2 sets being operational, the rest either broken or having to be used for parts to keep the last two soldiers running.

Before the Isle of Wight, they where workhorses for London Underground on many deep level rube lines, primarily operating on the Bakerloo and Northern (in conjuction with the 1949 stock on the NL) lines, however a few (7 sets) operated on the Piccadilly line. As part of the new works program (East section of the Central Line), some of the Class where owned by LNER, as the new works program took over sections of the LNER's track and stations. However, despite them owning many trains, they never saw service on the Central Line, and never got to see their owners old territory.

In the 70's, the '38 stock was finally showing their age, and the Northen Line started getting the '38 stocks replacement, the 1972 stock. Once the Northern Line got their fleet, the Bakerloo line started getting brand new '72 stock trains too, and it seemed like the end for the '38 stock. However, it wasnt to be, as the '72 stock was actually intended for the Jubilee line, and was just operating on the Bakerloo line as construction wasn't completed. Once the Jubilee Line opened, the Bakerloo line started operating '38 stock trains again in 1979, however, given the stocks age they where given a major refurbishment while the the trains where not in service on the Bakerloo.

In 1973, another casualty occured as the '38 stock was replaced with the 1959 stock on the Picadilly Line, meaning the Bakerloo was the last line operating the '38 stock on the entirety of its route. And with many lines having new trains, the '38 stocks days where numbered with the Bakerloo line having some of the oldest trains on the network.

However, they did recieve some good news in the '70s & '80s, as they where put to work on the East London Line, and some refurbished (again) units got to see work again on the northern line for 2 years in the 80s, with these being the special lucky units that where sold and converted into the class 483 for operation on the Isle of Wight, and claiming the title for the oldest train still in passenger operation in the UK (at the time of their withdrawal).

Finally, with the '90s approaching, it was finally the end of the '38 stock. With them being slow, old, and becoming more unreliable, harder, and more expensive to repair, they where slowly phased out on the Bakerloo line and replaced with the 1972 stock, that had previosuly worked on the Bakerloo line. After being replaced by the same train twice on the Bakerloo line (although once temporary), they where finally all withdrawn in 1985. A few where preserved, however, the rest ended up in the train heaven - the scrapyard.

Enjoy!
