Core A.I. Research

Description
Core A.I. Research – An A.I. is not simply created, it is grown!

The premise – A.I. cores are one of the rarest resources in the game, and they tend to be used for some rather esoteric technologies in various mods. As such, a heavily modded game requires a reliable method of acquiring them. While there are mods to add A.I. core recipes, I’ve found that approach unsatisfying, as it also removed the difficulty of acquiring the cores. But how do you add a reliable method of acquiring cores, while retaining the difficulty? Time.

The process:
Each A.I. core type requires two stages of research in order to complete, designing the core, and designing the code. Each project takes an extremely long time to complete, but there is a shortcut: You trade a corresponding core to add a massive amount of research progress to the project. Alternatively, you can use a techproof core to research the persona core technologies, but it will work at a greatly reduced rate.
A.I. assembly is split into two separate technologies: the core hardware, and the A.I. code. The hardware allows your colonists to build blank A.I. core's, of the corresponding type. Completing the A.I. code allows the construction of special “initializer” buildings. These buildings process blank cores and install the necessary A.I. firmware. Word of warning, this process can take a long time, so if you absolutely need 5 persona cores tomorrow, you’re going to have a bad time.

Incompatibilities; any mod that overwrites how the techproof core works, will cause problems. I don't know of any mod that does this, but just putting it out there to let people know.

Yes, your colonists are running linux.

I do see that you've adjusted the personal initializer, however the one that makes tech cores still makes the thumping sound. Could you make it silent as well please.

My ears! My apologizes, been a while since I've played Rimworld. Didn't realize the sound from the initializers was that loud, and that constant. Disabled.

Can you add it so that the AI research bench connects to linkables? Because right now even with 3 Level 20 researchers, it's very slow to do it

Hello there! Just trying out the mod, noticed 2 little things :

Both the blank AI core AND blank techprof are unlocked by the AI core research ;
Also the initializer makes a continuous droning noise once a blank is loaded up, is that intended?

Appart from that, I appreciate your work, having a bit more involved process to craft AI cores only seems reasonnable given how rare they've become.

Cheers!

Love the mod but looks like you need the persona core design research to unlock the blank techprof core recipe.

it could be an automatic research table powered by and adding more ia core to improve table processing and consuming more and more energy

Not currently. About the only way I could expand this one is by either adding interaction requirements to the initialization process, or extracting a prisoners mind into a persona core, with a small chance of destructive failure.
