Emergency Support Prosthetics

Description
Emergency prosthetics to keep your pawns alive in desperate emergency situations!

What is it?

These are four relatively cheap and easy to make support prosthetics for four of the five vital organs your pawn needs to survive:
  • A Total Artificial Heart
  • An ECMO machine for your lungs
  • Two different kinds of dialysis machines for your kidneys and liver
Be warned, these are NOT long term replacements. They're uncomfortable and painful, they don't perform as well as a natural organ, and their intrusive nature and locations outside of the body makes them easily prone to infection if your colonist isn't careful.

Why even use them, then?

This mod was made to be used with Death Rattle and Life Support in circumstances where you might not have organs lying around to save your colonist's life. Maybe your colony is too moral to harvest prisoners, or maybe you simply don't want to have a whole organ harvesting operation be a part of your roleplay experience. Either way, the option is here.

Isn't there already a prosthetic heart in the game?

Well... yes. I personally use Rah's Bionics and Surgery Expansion, which has patched out the vanilla prosthetic heart because it otherwise renders that mod's heart transplants pointless. I've balanced these prosthetics in respect to that mod. If you'd like to use the vanilla prosthetic heart in place of the one this mod adds, I'm certainly not going to police your decision. But my significantly worse heart is here in case you need it.

They should just require the Machining research, some steel and components.

Whoops I did a big dumb, these are supposed to be available after you research Machining, but I forgot to say that so they defaulted to Bionics, when they're SIGNIFICANTLY less useful. I'll be patching that in a sec.

I'll look at how that mod does it and see if integrating that behavior would be possible. It looks like the mod you're talking about just supports body part removal.

There's an emergency surgery mod that lets you do surgeries without medicine, at the cost of trauma. I haven't tried it yet, but seems like it'd go quite well with this mod.
