Radiant New Animal Subspecies

Description
This is a mod that adds new subspecies for already existing animal races in the game. These new animal strains will have brand new handpaint textures (not simple color photoshop layers, trust me ...), new stats and their own unique way to be acquired, or not. This mod always require to re-import the game after any update to make it work at 100%. It does not alter vanilla animals but can alter few vanilla npc related to the animals and some of their dialogues. Finally this mod might make your game harder since a good number of them will be chasing your ass !

Please read the last section first, most mods are free but please don't forget to cheer your mod creators so they don't fade away.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MOD CONTENT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- A new spectral animal backpack has been added. It's a minimal, invisible, universal backpack sold at the nomad animal traders. It's expensive but can be worth it if you need your "monster" to have somewhat of a starting inventory.

- A new game start has been added : A man with an Oni gorillo. A fun one suggested by one of my friends, starting location is in Mourn which kind of complicate things ... Good luck.

New subspecies list :
  • Azure Warrior Crab : A crab with fairly stronger stats which could rivalize with a gorillo when full aged. Has improved senses, health points and regeneration, also move quicker than vanilla crabs but still a bit slow compared to humans. Where to find it ? Crab Town. Make your own investigations, i won't help you further.

  • Seaweed Crab : This crab is less common than vanilla's, pop in fewer biomes and in a fewer proportions. Crab Raiders sometimes have some, they're still not as rare as the Azure Warrior Crab. Seaweed Crab is said to be a breed cross between Azure Warrior and Regular crabs. Since they share a bit of their blood, they also inherit a bit of their superior strength. Seaweed Crabs can be seen roaming (aggressive) or bought to merchant.

  • Iridescent Beak Thing : A mutated sturdier kind of beak thing. Iridescent because of the gazoline reflections on their neck. They are slightly stronger than regular beak things. Even if bonuses compared to vanilla are not extreme, stepping in a nest won't make it a happy day ! They run a bit slower though, this is their only weakness ! Appear in all "moisty biomes", preferably in The Burning Forest and Gut.

  • Zebra Bull : An almost extinct old specie of bulls, famous for their incredible sturdiness, strength and speed. A Zebra Bull won't be "much" better than a pack bull, because I don't want to break game's difficulty. Thus being said, it'll definitely be the most amazing bulls of all ! I've worked a lot on the texture ... the most complexe so far.

  • Graveyard Wolf : The rolls-royce of the doggies ! Fast boy and best guard dog ever (not overpowered though we don't want that). Can equip a scarf 'bag' that allow him to work as a courier in your team. They are the nomad buyable versions of my other mod "white fang". These dogs have a nice shorter scale that makes them around a big dog in real life (Giant dogs feels off to me).

  • Tainted Garru : A race of Garru that recently has appeared. Seems to have a superior immune system to rude environnement and radiations. Thus, its flesh is not consumable anymore for fragile stomachs. They are not the hostile type but some have seen few specimen eat dead or agonizing corpses. Can be found on west/south west coast of the world and sometimes available at nomads as a tamed version.

  • Verdant Skimmer : Verdant Skimmers are far ancestors of the present Skimmers. They were evolving in less arid areas and wear greenish colors. They were originally living in the hidden forest region but they moved east to find their descendants, possibly to mate with them and ensure their future survival. These bad boys are exclusively enemies and you should never undersestimate them, more sturdier than vanillas and have their attacks slightly enhanced, but they appear in lesser numbers. (has an optional color choice, see the last screenshot)

  • Dusk Landbat : This "dark" version of the Landbat has improved run speed (medium), senses (high), health (medium) and attacks (just a little), that will make of them dreadful opponents, especially if you are undergeared or facing big numbers of them. They roam in the same biomes as vanillas but like to travel a bit more. I have spend great time to do this new texture and hairs, details are much more alive, with more readable tones despite of the dark mood.

  • Oni Gorillo : A new subspecie of gorillo that find its place between the black and the white vanillas one. He has increased HPs and improved run speed, hit harder than the white but still weaker than the black specimens. A lot of work have been done on textures, the two vanillas have been improved accordingly (mouth color fixes, back legs nail fixes, addition of frog pupils, texture glitches corrected, head details improvements). Oni gorillo spawn mainly in the Vain biome and those around it.

  • Mire Skin Spider : This subspecie of spider is a big sized one that evolves and wanders exclusively alone. It's usually found in the swamp and its surrounding biomes (it can even roam into the Border Zone, so be careful). Despite of being lonely, its hp and defense are heavily buffed. It's a decent low-mid game miniboss if you feel like testing your squads. Otherwise it has a very good sense of smell when it come to wounded creature, and prefers to hunt at night.

Tested with 50+ mods, this game has a pretty simple data architecture. It should be compatible with any other mods.
IT BARELY ALTERS THE VANILLA ANIMALS, IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THEM IT'S NOT THIS MOD FAULT.

While I really like this mod for the great textures, it's got a couple of issues in my opinion.

The spawning weights for iridescent beak things feel MASSIVELY overtuned in Shem. The things are EVERYwhere there, to the point that I would feel far safer in the Bonefields. On the rare occasion any bandits spawn they are immediately set upon, and I cannot look in any direction without seeing some of them in the distance.

Also I'm pretty sure that the "Oni gorillo Loner" character entry in FCS is broken - It is set to spawn black gorillos, as opposed to the oni gorillos I imagine it is meant to. I've seen a couple black gorillos in Skinner's Roam, so I get the feeling that oni gorillos just won't ever appear in the world without fixing this.

For anyone else having issues or feeling that spawns are too much/few, the necessary changes in the FCS are very quick and easy. I strongly recommend learning how to use it so you can tweak the mod to your preferences.

Hello, I have a problem with this mod is that when you start with the beginning guy with an oni gorillo, my gorillo's life goes down for no reason and I wanted to know if it is a bug or if it is something about the gorillo, sorry for my English.

is there any mod or any way to make the iridescent beak things NOT spawn in every biome? i have seen them literally everywhere.

With this mod a huge problem appeared in the cities. At least in the bone fields. I have settled in Katun and every minute there are fights between guards and beaked critters under the city. I don't mind the free skin and meat, but some of them run into town and total chaos ensues. Very sad because I have to interrupt the production of wine from your own mod so my workers don't die.
Mod looks great but because of this problem I will play without it for now

Hello everyone, I'm sorry I'm having a very bad health episode this year, I couldn't check my messages for a long time. I'm sorry for the troubles about that bat squad value, I'm updating the mod (The age of a large group was supposed to be 70, which is reflecting on their combat stats but I misstyped 700 instead so ... you can imagin the crazy stats they had in the end). So now it's fixed to 80 since people told me in message it would be cool if they were still strong.
