CRASHING AND 100% CPU USAGE FIX Windows 10 (Possibly)

A possible fix for the 100% CPU problem.

Steps to fix

This is mainly a fix for crashing and freezing, may also help with 100% CPU usage.

On my system I have never had any issue with high CPU usage in Apex Legends. But today I was able to replicate that issue consistently and fix it consistently on my PC. So this is likely the cause of the problem.

My CPU for reference: Ryzen 2700x

Here is the basic steps to fix it:

1. Find "Windows Defender" on your task bar (Usually the up arrow at the bottom right)

2. Right-click Windows defender and click view security dashboard.

3. Click "App & browser control"

4. Click "Exploit protection settings"

5. Click "Program Settings"

6. Click "Add program to customize" then click "Choose exact file path"

7. Locate and find the "r5apex.exe" file in your Apex Legends root folder located under Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Apex Legends

8. Now scroll down and make sure every setting has "Override system settings" selected and then make sure all the options are off for every setting then click "Apply".


9. Restart game.

"We are aware of the problem" - at least good that they 'aware' off making 1/4 or maybe even 1/3 community unable to play, because loading screens, 100% CPU main menu, and 100% cpu in game usage.

Yep, its not working. I change that, every box check marked, Override system settings off. I've reseted the system for sure. In lobby, with fast game switch - 91% CPU Usage. On Worlds Edge stable 80% CPU usage. I've got latest nvidia driver, lastest microsoft update, checked everything like game reinstall, rollback the drivers, install new drivers and its still happening. World Edge is worse than Olympus. On Olympus I got stable 30-60% cpu usage on medium-high options. I didnt changed graphic options since Season 8, and everything was ok.
I made mistake by spending my hard worked money, to buy fucking Heirloom for Revenant. One thing is sure, its not our problem, its devs code problem. If you got Intel proccessor, or Nvidia RTX graphic card - you can say Farewell Apex, because devs put their d*cks on us.
I've send ticket to EA, and got no callback.

try deleting apex folder from this location C:\Users\pc\savedgames, it works for me and the folder should be few mb's

This worked beautifully for me until Apex had a patch yesterday and now I have 100% CPU usage again. Great guide just a shame that Respawn/EA seem to cause bugs everywhere they go....

Sadly this did nothing for me. Game still makes my pc hit 100% CPU and GPU usage.
