Guide
1) Launch your game normally at least once. Configure the game to your specifications.
2) Rename Fallout4Launcher.exe to Fallout4Launcher_bak.exe
3) Paste files from F4SE[f4se.silverlock.org]
4) Rename f4se_loader.exe to Fallout4Launcher.exe
5) Launch the game normally through Steam.
6) It just works™

If you want to configure graphic settings - restore the original Fallout4Launcher.exe.
If there will be update and the game won't launch - restore the original Fallout4Launcher.exe.
If for some reason this doesn't work for you - restore the original Fallout4Launcher.exe.

This should also work for any other script extenders for other Bethesda games.

UPDATE:
Next-gen update breaks F4SE, so either rollback to previous version (instruction in the sticky post on Nexus[www.nexusmods.com], yes, it's that convoluted) or wait for the update from F4SE folks.

The 2024-04-25 Fallout 4 update (1.10.980 and later) has broken F4SE and the rest of the native code modding scene similarly to Skyrim's "Anniversary Edition" patch. I am working on an update and cannot currently offer a timeline for its availability, nor whether there will be any critical technical issues that would block an update.

This is very cool. I must try it sometime. Way back I installed Oblivion on Linux and got it working, just because I could --- lots of config required. But couldn't do the same for Skyrim or Fallout 4 ... until NOW. :)
