IMPROTANT NOTES
-This is my first attempt at building a submarine so tips/suggestions are appreciated.

The year is 1962 and the world is on the brink of nuclear war. A fleet of US Navy destroyers led by the carrier, the USS Randolph, are dropping practice depth charges on a Soviet submarine in an effort to force it to the surface, little did they know the crew of B-59 are considering using their nuclear torpedo. Here's my replica of a Soviet Project 641-Class Submarine, know by NATO as the Foxtrot-Class.

SHIP STATS:

Length: 33m

Top Speed: 9kn (cruising speed is 4-6kn)

Diesel Range(at cruising speed): 70km

Battery Range(at cruising speed): 10km

Crew: 5(1 officer)

Functional Torpedoes

Functional Periscope

Functional Autopilot and AutoDepth

Function Rescue Buoy

INTERIOR SPACES(Forward to Aft):

Compartment 1:
-Torpedo Room

Compartment 2:
-Command Center

Compartment 3:
-Officer's Mess
-Captain's Quarters
-Bathroom
-Crew Bunks

Compartment 4:
-Diesel Engine Room

STARTING THE VESSEL
Once you descended the ladder from the top of the conning tower, you will arrive in the command center. Advance the lever labeled "Diesel Engine Throttle" to at least 55%. Then proceed through the hatch in the back of the Command room towards the back of the boat.

Once you've arrived in the engine room, turn the 2 keys labeled "Port Engine Pumps" & "Starboard Engine Pumps". Once those Keys are activated, press the buttons labeled "Port Engine Starter" & "Starboard Engine Starter". Then Return to the Command Center.

Once back in the command Center, Advance the "Electric Motor Throttle" lever located next to the Helm and the boat should start moving.

DIVING THE VESSEL
From the Command Center, Input your target depth into the depth computer located opposite of the helm. Then press the buttons labeled "Fill Forward Ballast Tanks" and "Fill Aft Ballast Tanks". Then, while the Ballast Tanks are filling up, lower the lever labeled "Diesel Engine Throttle" to zero. Once the Ballast tanks are mostly full, press the "Autodepth" button to dive the submarine.

I highly recommend proceeding to the engine room at some point to shut down the engine pumps to conserve battery.

SURFACING THE VESSEL
Press the 2 buttons labeled "Empty Forward Ballast Tanks" & "Empty Aft Ballast Tanks", then set the autodepth target for 0 and the sub should surface.

FIRING THE TORPEDOES
From the torpedo room, Turn the key labeled "Fill Torpedo Tube". Once the tube has been filled with water, Turn the key labeled "Tube Hatch". With the hatch open and the tube flooded, press the button labeled "Fire Torpedo". After the Torpedo has been fired, turn the key labeled "Tube Hatch" to close the outer doors & turn the key labeled "Empty Torpedo Tube".

SHIP HISTORY
The Project 641-class submarines were designed as long range strategic attack submarines, designed to hunt and kill NATO ships and submarines. Due to the diesel electric nature of these subs, the Soviets were able to build large numbers of these vessels, 74 to be specific. NATO gave the vessels the reporting name of "Foxtrot".

The first vessel in the class entered service in 1958 and these subs quickly became fairly common within the Soviet Navy. In 1962 these submarines played a role in the tensest moment of the Cuban Missile Crisis where the crew of a Foxtrot-Class submarine, B-59, considered using their T-5 nuclear torpedo against an American fleet they thought was attacking them.

These subs stayed in service with the Soviet Navy until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, long after newer and more capable nuclear-powered boats had been introduced into the fleet. Following the end of the Cold War, the Russian Navy retired most of their Project 641-Class vessels, selling many to foreign navies and private companies. The last country to operate a Foxtrot-Class Submarine was Ukraine. The sole Ukranian Foxtrot-Class sub was captured by Russia in 2014 and has yet to be returned to Ukraine.

There are many Foxtrot-Class subs around the world serving as museum ships, including B-39 in San Diego & B-427 which is moored next to the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach.

NOTES
-I recommend surfacing the vessel when the battery reaches about 40-30%(about 7km at cruising speed) to ensure you have enough power to surface the boat.

-It takes roughly 20 minutes to fully charge the battery from 5% while fully stopped, it takes 27 minutes at cruising speed.

Cathymb1, It will be way more effective at sinking ships when we get the weapons DLC!

Kirbcake, I ran some tests and the only way I was able to get that kind of heating was to completely disable the coolant system on the engines. Double check to make sure the small pumps immediately forward of the engines are connected to the power grid and activated by the pump keys. I'm not sure how these would have come disconnected(I double checked the version I have loaded on the workshop and the pumps are working there) but this is basically the only way I could get the engines to heat up like that.
