Warriors of Christ

Description
During the Third century there was much chaos in Roman World civil wars,Germanic and Persian invasions as well as a bad economy. As for the early Christianity under Roman and Germanic Christians would either be force or willing join their respectable Empires/Tribal Kingdoms Armies in times of lacking in man power in other population groups.Whether or not the local Christian Priest approved of going to war probably didn't matter to the Emperors and Tribal chieftains as many were more focused on land grabs and political positions. Never less where ever battle takes you may you carry the Cross to Victory!!!

The gradual conversion of the germanic peoples from the 4th to 5th centuries was also due to the use of conversion and evangelization by kings to legitimate their rule and have better control over their populations. Alaric I, Gaiseric, Clovis, all converter kings used Christianity as a mean to unite and control the diverse groups they commanded (Franks, Goths, Vandals, Alanni, Romans...), and legitimate their rule as appointed by God the same way the christian Emperor (officially) was : divine right.

But the germanic peopless themselves would only start to convert to Christianity only during the 4rth century AD, as it would help them to get better relations with a newly christianizing and still powerful Roman Empire which also took interest in reinforcing and expanding its geopolitical and diplomatic influence further through evangelization.
And the first attempts at conversion were midly successful at best, as most germanic kings and chief, like the gothic king Athanaric, saw these preachers as roman agitators and spies sent to bring discord among their peoples. Appointed bishop of the Goths by Eusebius of Nicomedia in 348 AD, Ulfila was quickly expelled from the gothic lands by Athanaric after managing to convert some of his people. He then oversaw the translation of the Bible from greek to gothic, which would serve later missionaries.

@Aristoxenus The Christians were already spread within the population of the Roman Empire since the 1rst century AD to the 3rd. The Germanic peoples truly started to get contacts with them at the end of the 3rd century in the form of captives taken during raid in roman territories.
Some of them continued to live among the germanic peoples as slaves and gave birth to a new generation of christians speaking native languages, and some of these would take the role of evangelizer.
For example, Ulfila (circa 311 - 383), missionary and first arian bishop among the Goths, was born to cappadocian greek parents of christian beliefs taken as captives during a gothic raid at an unknown date. Tho a arian christian himself, and well versed greek and latin, Ulfila was raised as a Goth and learned about his people, their customs and their language.

that's one of the tribal kingdoms but for example in History the Goths converted to Arian Christianity do to a priest named Wulfila i don't know when they were converted however it makes to add them because it was the Christian they accepted
Aristoxenus Apr 26, 2021 @ 7:35pm
No, i mean, in real life, i thought the germans converted to Christianity around the times of Clovis for example

I assume so. It would make sense if the Germanic people in question conquered a area with Christian Population center. and you can already build whatever religious building in the DLC that you want so idk why it's a question of yours
