The Story of Borderlands
Author: xKriostar

Borderlands 2 starts off with the four main vault hunters coming on via train after Marcus gives his usual story about the history of the vaults (You can find a video here). The four vault hunters run into a trap on the train, causing it to crash in the Southern Shelf, where our gameplay begins. The vault hunter you chose to play as will wake up to the sight of a small, orange, triangular shaped robot, who then greets you and gives you a Dahl Heads up Display (That he totally didn't loot from another corpse) and then leads you towards his home in the ice.

While walking towards the robot's house (Whose name is CL4P-TP or Clap Trap), you are greeted by a girl named Angel, who shows up as a picture on your Heads up Display by connecting to your Echo Communicator by her being an "Artificial Intelligence," as said in Borderlands 1. She tells you to "trust her" and she is "here to help you."

Your antagonist is the hilarious, sarcastic, mister "Handsome Jack" (Some might argue against the handsome part). Jack greets you via Dahl Echo Communication while walking through the glacier, with his usual sarcastic tone, asking you to kill yourself. Too bad you don't get the option to actually do so.

Gameplay Basics
Author(s): xKriostar

Borderlands 2 is a RPG FPS game, meaning 'Role Play First Person Shooter'. The game is based around collecting "loot" and has quite a good story to go along with it. The loot in Borderlands 2 is collecting massive amounts of guns, shields, grenades, and some other few customization options. As gearbox says, "87 BAZILLION GUNS!" Every piece of non-uniqe loot (explained in Weapon Rarities) will be different in some way. It might be firing speed, relod speed, or it might even shoot fire, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FIRE! If your inventory gets full of all your super-mega-raip-cannon, the game's main city, Sancutary, has a safe for storing all your crazy loot in while you go find more.
Playable Characters
Authors: Shadowclaw & Jasara

Here are the backstories on each of the playable characters:

Axton --An ex-Dahl soldier who went AWOL after being sentenced to death by firing squad for his numerous "awesome" exploits. He makes a living as a small-time bounty hunter, but seems dissatisfied with what he does. Attracted "cleverly" by Handsome Jack through ECHO advertisements, he sets out in search of the Vault.

Maya --A Siren raised on a facist world by an organization of monks, known as the Order of the Impending Storm. They trained her to be a weapon of supression for the population, but she openly refused and fled when she realized how corrupt they actually were.

Salvador --A rugged, crazed, native Pandoran who was sentenced to be hung after killing bandits who were after his grandmother. This sentence was postponed (sorta) when Hyperion stormed the town and Salvador stepped in and stopped them. He brutallly interrogates (and by that we're talking breaking both legs, an arm, and ripping off his other arm) a soldier to get information about the Vault, and decides to set out in search of it.

Zero -- An anonymous assassin with no given game, he appears to be equally adept with swordfighting as gunplay. In search of the ultimate challenge for his skills, he eventually finds his way to Pandora, where he "converses with the locals". Upon hearing of the tremendous challenge that the Vault itself presents, he sets out to locate it himself.

Gaige -- A high school student from the planet Eden-5. She originally conceived Deathtrap, then called DT, as a science fair project to combat bullying. Her rival, Marcie Holloway, was a contestant in the science fair as well, and used her father's money to buy her way through the competition. Marcie apparently stole Gaige's DT designs and sold them to Eden-5's police force. On the day of the science fair, Marcie's father bribed the judges, helping win her first place with a defective robot based on Deathtrap's blueprints. Gaige placed third. Marcie then shoved Gaige, causing Deathtrap to identify her as a hostile. Deathtrap attacked with its claws, causing her to explode due to a miscalibration by Gaige. Gaige was escorted to the principle's office, and faced expulsion and arrest for accidentally murdering her rival. She called her father to create a distraction to help her evade arrest, and bought a ticket to Pandora, where she stowed away on a train leading to Windshear Waste.

Kreig -- A Hyperion test subject escapee, he managed to break out of (possibly the Hyperion Preserve) a facility and roam Pandora freely. Due to the experiments done upon him, this already-mostly-insane man is capable of what typical Pandoran psychoes do and more. He has a split-personality, with the insane, animalistic part of him being dominant. However, his true, original nature will occasionally surface to set something that the psycho does straight. It's rumored that he could be Tiny Tina's father.
Storyline NPCs
Author: Jasara

The following are NPCs that are major storyline pieces to Borderlands 2. Their backstories are as follows:

Claptrap -- A small CL-4PTP droid whom you end up having to keep with you through several points of the game, especially the beginning. This is actually the same Claptrap that you meet in the beginning of Borderlands 1. Because of his voided warranty, the first four vault hunters presumably ditched him in the glacier, where he made his own living in a scrap heap.

Roland -- He is a former soldier of the Crimson Lance, the highly trained private military of The Atlas Corporation (which no longer exists). The Atlas Corporation abandoned all remaining Crimson Lance soldiers on Pandora after losing their leader. Roland used this opportunity to rally the Lancemen against Hyperion, pledging to give them a cause their previous employer could not promise them, forming the Crimson Raiders, along with Mordecai, Brick, and his then-girlfriend Lilith. The Raiders were originally stationed in New Haven, but was discovered when Shep Sanders disclosed its location to Hyperion. Overrun by the company, and with Lilith believed dead by Hyperion, the Raiders relocated to Sanctuary. Roland then ended his relationship with Lilith to focus on defending the town, while she drew the bandits' attention away. When the Vault Hunters first encounter Roland, he is captured by a group of bands called The Bloodshots. They will have to rescue him from The Bloodshot Stronghold.

Lilith Cashlin -- One of the only six Sirens in the universe, she is one of the leaders of Sanctuary. After the opening of the Vault, Lilith's powers have grown substantially from absorbing Eridium, the element released after the defeat of the Destroyer. She was one of the founding members of the Crimson Raiders, along with Brick, Mordecai, and her then-boyfriend Roland. The Vault Hunters meet her at Frostburn Canyon after arriving at Sanctuary.

Mordecai -- Mordecai, along with Roland, Brick, and Lilith, was a founding member of the Crimson Raiders. After the opening of the first Vault, Mordecai was involved with Moxxi, whom he won as a prize from the Underdome. Their relationship went sour, and Moxxi left him for Handsome Jack. He also becomes an alchoholic, and drinks even before fighting. When Hyperion attacked New Haven, Mordecai fought Wilhelm along with Lilith and Roland, but were easily defeated. The Vault Hunters meet Mordecai at the Tundra Express and assists them with slagged sniper shots.

Brick -- Brick was one of the founding members of the Crimson Raiders, but Roland expelled him from Sanctuary for the brutal murder of Shep Sanders, who disclosed New Haven's location to Hyperion. Brick believed that if Hyperion was going to treat him like a bandit, he was going to be a bandit, and formed the Slab gang, with himself as its leader, known to most of Pandora as the Slab King.

Angel -- An AI unit that appears on the center of your HUD to guide you through most of the game. In truth, she is Handsome Jack's Siren daughter, bound to a machine that is both keeping her alive and charging the Vault Key using her energy. She was forced to mislead the first game's vault hunters to open the vault that contained Eridium and the disappointing giant alien.

Handsome Jack -- He is the main antagonist. He has taken over the Hyperion corporation, declared himself dictator of Pandora, and stolen all of the credit for finding The Vault, going so far as to claim responsibility for killing The Destroyer. A new team of Vault Hunters is tasked with killing Jack and restoring (relative) peace to Pandora. Jack has a geostationary moon base (in the shape of an 'H') in the Lagrange point between Pandora and Pandora's geostationary moon. It acts as an homage to his ego as well as a supply base from which he can send supplies and troops down to Pandora. The satellite also has a lens that allows Jack to keep an eye on the Vault Hunters at all times.

Sir Hammerlock -- He is a hunter who dresses in a ragged, futuristic version of a Victorian adventurer's outfit, with a slouch hat, a broken pair of glasses that resembles a monocle, and a robotic right eye, arm, and leg. The artificial appendages are prosthetics acquired as replacements for limbs lost during a particularly nasty encounter with a thresher named Old Slappy some years earlier.

Scooter -- He is a mechanic with workshops in New Haven, T-Bone Junction, then Sanctuary. He is most renowned and recognized for his southern accent and stylistic speech. He is also the son of Mad Moxxi and brother of Ellie. He is the inventor and maintainer of the Catch-A-Ride system.

Mad Moxxi -- She could be summed up with the words sadistic, lustful, alluring, and dangerous. She enjoys violence and combat, having been a skilled fighter in her earlier years. Modesty has little to do with Moxxi, especially when it comes to sex. Her affairs are innumerable and she has had several husbands (one of them being Marcus), and her lovers have been both male and female. She is also surprisingly refined in her tastes and mannerisms, always speaking with a seductive tone and an innuendo soon following. Moxxi, despite her violent tastes, is also friendly and rather compassionate when fighting is not involved. She is the caring mother of Scooter and Ellie, in her own Pandoran way, and can be protective of her children and others close.

Marcus Kincaid -- An arms dealer on Pandora. He owns all the ammunition and Weapon Vending Machines. Marcus is an extremely mercenary character with next to no morals. He is also extremely aggressive towards his rival arms dealers going as far as to have them killed or have their stock burned, as his vending machines say that he "made sure of that." Marcus also has a very strong "no refunds" policy. Despite this, he is not above thanking people who do things which turn out well for him. Marcus was originally an arms dealer allied with either the Dahl or Atlas corporations before the Vault hunters made their way to the planet. His current affiliations are unknown, although he maintains a mercenary outlook on life, which has him dealing frequently with the main characters. He sells weapons from all except the Eridian and Gearbox weapon manufacturers.

Dr. Zed Blanco -- An eccentric Doctor who lost his medical license for unknown reasons. Currently, he maintains the medical vendors around Pandora, more or less. He spends much of his time in the infirmary chopping up corpses. Originally from Fyrestone, he relocated to Sanctuary after being rescued by Roland.

Crazy Earl -- Originally from an area called "Earl's Scrapyard", Earl relocated to Sanctuary after the opening of the first Vault. He runs the Black Market with his pet skag Scrappy, where players exchange Eridium for various upgrades for weapons and inventory slots. Apparently he has earned his nickname from his crazy actions, such as eating one of Scooter's Catch-A-Ride vehicles entirely with a fork.

Tiny Tina -- An unstable thirteen-year-old explosives expert who's parents and Tina were sold to Hyperion to become test subjects for Jack's slag mutation experiments, an event which led to the deaths of her parents. She escaped their fate using a grenade that she had hidden in her dress at her mother's insistence, and once she was free of Hyperion's reach she vowed revenge on the man that had sold her family: Flesh-Stick. She lives in the Tundra Express area and assists the Vault Hunters in their quest to obtain the first piece of the vault key.
Classes and Playstyles
Author: Captain Crit/Jasara (editor)

The following classes below reveal the gameplay each player will most likely adapt when using each class in play, along with each of the skills each class can possibly learn in the process. The first four classes have been available for players during inital release, while the DLC characters were available at a later time for a price (varies upon region). All classes learn their first skill at level 5 and can earn a total of up to 67 skill points upon reaching the level cap. Please note that not all characters follow these gameplay guidelines and are open to multiple possiblities when equipping various items, skills, and weaponry.

COMMANDO:
The Commando is the "Soldier" type character who's tactics are usually to take cover and then return fire. His turret, the Dahl Sabre Turret, is a great weapon to attract gunfire away from him and give him free reign to open fire. The turret is a 360 degree auto-targeting mounted gun that is thrown like a grenade and fires rounds at opponents once deployed. He can leave the turret out until the duration of his turret is finished, or he can pick up the turret before the timer ends and reduce the cooldown time his action skill takes to recharge. The Commando will favor his Assault Rifle often over other weapon types and his action skill can be developed for various situations as he levels up.

SIREN:
The Siren is what I like to call the "Black/White Mage" type character. She is usually a support character, but is potentially one of the best classes in the game. For example, if you build your Siren for aggressive play, by end game she can be a powerhouse by eliminating groups of enemies and affecting them with possibly every single status ailment. As a support, she can heal party members by shooting them, reviving them with her action skill, and constantly regenerate her party's health with varioius skills and class mods. Speaking of her action skill, Phaselock is a wonderful ability where she lifts an opponent in the air for a short period of time and renders that opponent immobilized. During this time, she can either shoot said opponent or focus on other opponents in the area and come back to said opponent. Her action skill can be augmented to perform additional functions as she grows, with additional effects ranging from resurrecting party members from being down in Fight For Your Life mode, to dealing elemental damage of every type to groups of opponents. She specializes with SMGs (especially ones with elemental properties) and favors party play over single player action.

ASSASSIN:
The Assassin is the "Sniper/Ninja" type character. Also typically a support character, the Assassin has two play types: picking a prominent position and shooting from afar, or being up close and swinging his sword at opponents. He is great for players who have experience with first-person shooters as well as players who have alot of patience, for the Assassin is somewhat difficult to master if you do not know what your goals are for his growth progression. As a sniper player, he can utilize his distance from the battlefield with added effects from his abilities gained with skill points. As a close-range fighter, he will utilize his action skill, Decepti0n, to create a hologram decoy while making melee swipes at opponents. Either way, it is best to say that the Assassin is perfect for those instances that call for "under enemy radar" tactics. As implied earlier, the Assassin utilizes sniper rifles first and foremost, with pistols being secondary choice.

GUNZERKER:
As you can most likely tell, the "Gun"-zerker (a.k.a The Berserker) is the second most aggressive class out of the other main classes. As by playing this class, you enjoy bullets, and you eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This class should only be played with shotguns, SMGs, Assault Rifles, and Full-Automatic pistols. The reason for this is because of his action skill called Gunzerking, which grants you to shoot two guns at once, without the ability to aim down the sights. Alot of benefits can come out of situations with Gunzerking when applying the proper ability additions to go with this action skill. But above all, the Gunzerker is the meat shield for other players and does not need to worry about being out in the open. This character is great for both party and single-player play.

MECHROMANCER (DLC-Released on 10/9/2012):
This class is perfect for just about any level of skill per player. As the Mechromancer, you have the ability to summon DeathTrap (DT), an AI-controlled floating robot that disregards the playing field and structures around you to attack enemies at almost any distance with melee attacks with its massive claws. When playing with this class, DT is your best friend. While DT is attacking opponents, you're scouting for loot. However, the major drawback to this class is how long it takes for DT to recharge after his timer bar runs out (which initially is 60 seconds). So you will have to rely on what you have in the mean time to deter opponents after DT disappears. In any case, the Mecromancer is an amazing class due to the multiple styles of play you can utilize when building her skill tree. Each skill tree on its own develops this class into four play types: The Shocker, The Summoner, The Anarchist, and the All-Arounder. Her main weapon of choice is the Assault Rifle due to multiple class mods that improve AR damage. However, this class can also do extremely well with the SMG depending on how you play. It doesn't matter if you play solo or in a party, this class is well-built for Pandora exploration.

PSYCHO (DLC-Released on 03/24/2013):
For those who do not fear death and possibly constant money loss, this class is the most aggressive class in the game. You will no doubt be in the line of fire and constantly ON fire if you decide to build this class in that direction (as you will see in his skill tree). The Psycho, in description, is as it sounds: a class of pure psychotic gameplay, with no reason behind the madness. He is built to be up-close and personal with the opposition and blast (or swing) away at his opponents in full force. This being said, alot of his work deals with the explosive element, giving alot of AOE damage to those enemies who are clumped into groups, making him great at crowd control. Also, his action skill, Buzz Axe Rampage (BAR), dramatically increases his melee damage (500%), movement speed (33%) and restores his health whenever he kills an opponent in his BAR mode. Initially, this class is made for parties who need a sacrificial shield to keep the rest of the players from dying out in a heated firefight. However this class, with the right amount of intuition of the Psycho's skill tree abilities, can also be utilitzed as a support class under near-death situation for other players. All-in-all, this class is all about destruction first, questions later.
Class Skill Trees - Pt. 1
Author: Jasara

Each class you choose has three skill trees to develop. As you play through the game, you will reach level 5 earn your first Skill Point, which initially activates your Action Skill. Afterwards, you will earn a skill point for each level you gain, being able to add said Skill Point to a skill for your character. The following is a description for each skill (with their maximum effects) from each tree for each class (Due to the extensive size of this section, it will be split into multiple parts):

COMMANDO:
Action Skill: SABRE TURRET
Level Acquired: 5
Description: Deploy a Sabre Turret that automatically fires at enemies. When you're near the Sabre Turret, reclaim it and refund some of your cooldown.
Initial Duration: 20 Seconds (3 seconds to startup)
Initial Cooldown: 42 seconds max.
Notes: The Sabre Turret is the ability unique to the Commando. It is both the name of the skill, and the turret deployed by the skill. This automated weapons platform can distinguish friend from foe and dominate a small area of any battlefield.

=Guerrilla (Green Skill Tree)=
This tree focuses on close-range combat and improves the turret's duration and damage capabilities. Essentially it allows a player to drop the turret to let it support him while he closes distance to engage enemies.

-Tier 1-
*Sentry*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Increases the number of shots your Sabre Turret fires. Also increases your Sabre Turret's duration.
Notes: Adds 1 shot fired per burst and 2 seconds of duration for every point added to this skill. (Max = 5 additional shots fired (up to a total of 8 shots), and an additional 10 seconds of duration)

*Ready*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Increases your Reload Speed
Notes: Your Reload Speed increases by 8% for every point added to this skill. (Max = Reload Speed increased by 40%)

-Tier 2-
*Laser Sight*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Increases the Accuracy of your Sabre Turret.
Notes: Increases your turret's Accuracy by 10% for each point added to this skill. Also adds a visible laser targeting beam to the turret's appearence. (Max = 50% additional Accuracy)

*Willing*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Improves your Shield Recharge Rate and Shield Recharge Delay.
Notes: Increases your Shield Recharge Rate by 15% and decreases your Shield Recharge Delay by 12% for every point added to this skill. (Max = SRR Increased by 75% and SRD decreased by 60%)

-Tier 3-
*Onslaught* (Kill Skill)
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Killing an enemy increases your Gun Damage and Movement Speed for a short time.
Notes: Increases Gun Damage by 6% and Movement Speed by 12% for every point added to this skill. (Max = Gun Damage increased by 30% and Movement Speed increased by 60% for every kill, which lasts for 7 seconds and resets this timed effect for every kill.)

*Scortched Earth*
Point Capacity: 1 max
Description: Adds Multiple Rocket Pads to your Sabre Turret
Notes: Decreases your bullet damage from your turret by 13%, but adds visible rocket launchers to the sides of the turret, which shoot out 22 rockets per volley, dealing explosive damage to the target.
TIP: Although this skill adds explosive damage, it will never deal critical damage in spite of it saying "CRITICAL".

*Able*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Damaging an enemy causes you to Regenerate Health for a few seconds. This effect does not stack multiple times.
Notes: Regenerates 2% of maximum health per second with a duration of 3 seconds for every skill point. (Max = 10% of maximum health per second)
TIP: While this skill can be activated by elemental damage as well as normal damage, it will not be activated by damage from your Sabre Turret.

-Tier 4-
*Grenadier*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Increases the maximum number of Grenades you can carry.
Notes: Increases your Grenade Capacity by 1 for every skill point. (Max = Grenade Capacity increased to 5 additional grenades)

-Tier 5-
*Crisis Management*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: You gain bonus Gun Damage and Melee Damage while your shields are depleted.
Notes: Increases Gun Damage by 35% and Melee Damage by 30% for each skill point. (Max = Gun Damage increased by 175% and Melee Damage increased by 150% when your shield is depleted)

-Tier 6-
*Double Up*
Point Capacity: 1 max
Description: Adds a 2nd gun to your Sabre Turret and changes both guns to fire Slag bullets. Slagged enemies take bonus damage from all Non-Slag attacks.
Notes: Number of Turret Guns +100%
TIP: A turret firing slag bullets does 13% less damage per shot. This yields a 74% increase in Damage Per Shot (DPS) rather than the 100% that one might intuitively expect. Also, a Double Up turret with Scorched Earth rocket pods does even less bullet damage, as the damage penalties for the two skills stack. On the plus side, rockets fired from your turret deal double damage due to the targeted enemy being slagged.Compared to Gemini (Survival Skill Tree), Double Up has slightly lower raw damage and does not effectively double turret health. However any slagged enemies will receive greater damage from both Scorched Earth and players, making it a stronger offensive choice. However, Double Up has the side effect of not boosting turret damage on targets you or someone else slags.

=Gunpowder (Blue Skill Tree)=
This tree focuses on medium range combat, providing many boosts to weapon damage of all kinds and general combat skills. Also allows for tactical deployment of the turret as "another soldier on the field" via the Longbow skill.

-Tier 1-
*Impact*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Increases Gun Damage and Melee Damage.
Notes: Increases Gun Damage by 4% and Melee Damage by 3% for every skill point. (Max = Gun Damage increased by 20% and Melee Damage increased by 15%)

*Expertise*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Increases your Weapon Swap Speed and Aim Speed. Also, your Movement Speed is increased while aiming.
Notes: Your Weapons Swap Speed is increased by 14%, your Aim Speed by 14%, and your Movement Speed by 7% for every skill point. (Max = Weapon Swap Speed increased by 70%, Aim Speed increased by 70%, Movement Speed increased by 35% while aiming)

-Tier 2-
*Overload*
Point Capacity: 5 max
Description: Increases Magazine Size with Assault Rifles
Notes: Magazine Size +10% (Max = Magazine Size +50%)
Leveling Up Effectively
Author: a Toastie

Much more, coming to a screen in front of you at some point in the future :P

This section of the guide is designed to give tips to players who are a bit stuck, want to learn more about a character. You can level a character any way you want as it is your own journey, this is what I have found to be the most effective way to level up characters in the game.

Normal Mode
This is what I like to think of as the “blurry mode”. Compared to the other modes, normal mode is the most forgiving to you as you can simple over level yourself by doing some side quests and find the play through a breeze.

Notable weapons that will pretty much lead you through the game as soon as you get them are: the Pimpernel (Captain Scarlett's DLC), Sandhawk (Captain Scarlett's again), Ladyfist ("Uncle Teddy", the Badlands).

Anarchy/BFFs Gaige

Guns: low magazine Jacobs Shotguns (more barrels the merrier, the sweet spot is a Rustler’s blue/purple double barrel) and pistols for the damage. Dahl pistols and smgs for the burst fire. Torgue pistols and assault rifles, because SPLOSIONS!

Weapons that are particularly good are: Pimpernel, Sandhawk, Fibber, Ladyfist, Hail, Blockhead (actually most unique shotguns).

Best class mods for this levelling build: Prodigy/Anarchist. Specifically Patient Prodigy.
Shields: virtually anything

Most players will choose to max Preshrunk Cyber Punk and Close Enough. However this simply isn’t needed and will ultimately annoy teammates as you take their kills. A easier method that doesn’t limit a player to just using shotguns is to miss Preshrunk Cyberpunk until the player get Cooking Up Trouble and Discord.

I then put 3 points into Cooking Up Trouble.

The next stage is to carry on filling up the Order Chaos Tree so that by level 19 my trees look like this:

This will pretty much do you to the end of normal mode. From then on, it is maxing out Typecast Iconoclast and the Better Half. You normally finish at level 30 or above but for those who just don’t like normal mode, it is around level 28.

Maya

Guns: pretty much anything in normal mode, elemental weapons are preferable. Maya also likes SMGs a lot.

Best class mods for this levelling build: Warder

Shields: Virtually anything

Out of personal preference I like to start off with using Minds eye in the motion tree during the early stages of the game because running around with a Jacobs revolver scoring crit shots is fun, however maxing out with Ward is a better a way to go because enables you to tank some damage while having a relatively short recharge delay on the majority of shields. I tend not to use accelerate because a 15% increase in damage isn’t a lot and the bullet speed pretty much benefits only Torgue guns in the early stages.

Specing into Sweet Release gives you higher survivability before then specing into Accelerate, then Suspension and then Converge. I don’t spec into the Cataclysm tree because of the amount direct damage you do is enough and ideally you want to be looking at the higher tier skills on that tree. I don’t use wreck because the cooldown is a little too long and tanking a bit of health damage against mobs is a better option for me.

Krieg

Guns: anything early game, explosive weapons, especially multi-barrel Torgue Shotguns, moxxi weapons in the later game.

Best class mods for this levelling build: Sickle

Shields: Tortoise shields

First thing: Buzzaxe rampage badasses and Flint. I then spec into Empty the Rage for more destruction. Fuel the Rampage because its early stages of solo play. I completely spec into the mania tree because of the ridiculous amount of damage Krieg can deal with his Buzzaxe in rampage mode. I also recommend taking a little more time in normal mode because the ideal place to be by the end of normal mode is level 31.

I then spec Strip the Flesh for the explosive bonus.

Before putting a point into Salt the Wound, then light the fuse, because…well just because dynamite really with redeem the Soul. In normal mode Krieg’s Buzzaxe Rampage is already pretty strong even without a roid shield, so it’s up to the player if they want to spec into Silence the Voices (smacking yourself in the face to go into light the fuse in normal is not ideal). I always do it mainly because I tend not to use roid shields while setting me up for the rest of the game.

Finally by the magic 31 you can unlock Krieg’s most over the top skill in the mania tree Release the Beast, which greatly increases survivability and you can pretty much get yourself into a rampage cycle by letting yourself get damaged to 33% or below when out of it.

Maximum Level Builds
Author/Authors: Jacksonic/Jasara (editor).

Current Maximum Level: 72

Once you reach the maximum level, you will be ready for OverPower (OP) levels. These levels add levels to enemies, making them (and missions), harder. Although you do not level up along with the equipped overpower (the maximum being OP8) the loot is better. Now, to handle these enemies you are going to need good builds, and especially good luck since loot is randomized.

SIREN:

Now, there are many unique builds for siren, but i find that this one is most effective. FIrst off, there is the cataclysm tree, where you will be getting most of your damage skills. Your cataclysm tree should look something like this. Note that i am using the legendary cat classmod. Next is the

Weapon Rarities
Author: xKriostar

Borderlands 2 has weapon rarities based on colour and "flavour text".

Flavour Text:
Flavour Text is shown below a gun's information with a red coloured text like this:

The Flavour Text gives the gun a unique ability, therefore, they call the guns with flavour text's "Unique Weapons" weather it be Legendary, or a mission weapon. This specific gun, the 'Infinity' has the unique ability to have infinite ammo, and never have to reload. What the Flavour Text says usually has nothing to do with what the gun's ability is, but is usually a easter-egg/reference.

Colour Rarity:
Whenever an item drops, even if it's a relic, class mod, or even a skin customization, it will have a specific colour on it. You can see what colour is by the glowing flag, when it's on the ground, or the gun name's colour in the inventory.

In these pictures, you can see there's a blue grenade, pink shield, and a purple launcher.

List of colours:

White:
White weapons are the least rare in the game. You will see them everywhere, there is nothing special about them. (Note: All Jakobs sniper rifles of this rarity will be bolt action.)

Green:
Green weapons are the next level of rarity. Nothing different from white, but they might be a little bit more powerful. You might be happy to see one of these early game but they are useless late game. (Note: All Jakobs sniper rifles of this rarity will be semi-auto.)

Blue:
Blue's are where the fun begins. Blue is the first tier that can be a unique gun and have a flavour text. You will probably use a lot of these late game. (Note: All Jakobs sniper rifles of this rarity will be bolt action.)

Purple:
Purple weapons are mostly like a much more powerful white or green weapon. Very few of them are unique weapons. You probably won't use these very much early or late game. (Note: All Jakobs sniper rifles of this rarity will be semi-auto.)

E-Tech:
E-Tech, or Eridium Tech weapons are where the cool stuff comes in. The earliest you can get an E-Tech gun in the game is Doctor Zed's second/third missions, "Medical Mystery", you will get an E-Tech pistol 100% of the time. E-Tech's can have cool abilities like shooting lasers and plasma balls although that doesn't count as a unique ability, so most of the E-Tech's are not unique (There is a couple unique ones though like the 'Yellow Jacket').

Seraph:
Seraph weapons are rare weapons added by any of the 4 main DLC's, you will only need one of them to unlock Seraph weapons. Seraph's are always unique and will always have a Flavour Text. You can find these beasties by either killing one of the Seraph Guardians (Raid bosses added by the DLC's) and:
1. The Seraph Guardian drops a seraph weapon while killed
2. The Seraph Guardian drops an amount of Seraph Crystals, a currency added by the DLC's which you can then go buy Seraph Items from a Seraph vendor, also added by the DLC.

Legendary:
Legendary weapons are the ones that everybody wants. Now, I should of said this earlier, but just because it's higher on the scale of rarity, does not mean it will always be better. Some of the legendary weapons are complete s*** (I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU, FLAKKER). Legendary weapons will always have a flavour text just like the Seraphs.

Pearlescent:
Pearlescent weapons are the rarest of the game and hardest to find, even though they don't have much better perks than legendary or Seraphs.

Weapon Brands
Author: Johnpc
In this section of the Big Borderlands Book of Badassness, you will learn about the many weapon brands in the game.

Torgue
Torgue is a very unique brand in the fact that their guns don't shoot bullets. They shoot rockets. Any gun manufactured by Torgue, be it shotgun, pistol, or rocket launcher, will fire rockets. This makes all their guns have explosive damage, second only to Jakobs weapons. This also makes them unable to have any sort of element aside from explosive. They are good weapons for just about any class. If something absolutely has to explode, choose Torgue!
  • Rocket Launchers: Since their regular guns fire rockets, it isn't too hard to believe that their rocket launchers are some of the best in the game. Characterised by very high damage, they make for a very good weapon to have on your hotbar in case you go down, taking down nearby enemies very quickly. However their mag sizes and reload speeds are some of the worst in the game.
  • Shotguns: Torgue shotguns are a prime choice for nearly any class. They usually have medium sized clips, not as big as bandit clips, but bigger than Jakobs clips. They have very high damage, more than Hyperion or Bandit shotguns, but not as much damage as Jakobs. Their accuracy is generally low, but such is expected from a shotgun.
  • Pistols: Torgue pistols often come across as semi-auto revolvers. However their use as long range revolvers is taken away by the low speed of the "bullets" themselves. This makes them similar to a high power, single shot shotgun, like a splatgun. This can both limit and enhance their capabilities, based on the player and the environment.
  • Assault Rifles: Torgue assault rifles are often passed over. They have slow moving bullets, low rate of fire, and low accuracy, but the highest damage of any assault rifles. This restricts them from a lot of uses, espescially with Zer0. However they can be very dangerous in the beginning of the game for Gunzerkers and certain Commandos. They also can work very well with Gaige's close enough skill, and certain Krieg builds if you want to stay back from the fight, maybe to regenerate your sheild.
  • Weapons of Particular Note: The Flakker, the Unkempt Harold, the Carnage, the Nukem, the Tunguska, the Swordsplosion, the Pocket Rocket, the Boom Puppy, the Landscaper, the 12 Pounder, the Creamer, the Kerblaster, the Ogre, the Devastator, the Ahab, and the Seeker.
Jakobs
Jakobs is characterised by the highest damage in the game, extremely high or low fire rate, and small clips. The company makes no elemental weapons aside from certain rare weapons. This makes them a very sub-optimal weapon choice for Maya, and Salvador while making them perfect for Zer0 and certain Axton turret builds. If it took more than one bullet, you weren't using a Jakobs!
  • Sniper Rifles: Jakob sniper rifles tend to have the highest basic damage in the game. They are most often bolt action, causing a somewhat large pause between shots. These guns are perfect for Zer0 built around his sniper tree. They also work well when Axton stand behind hsi turret to use them. They are not recommended for Salvador, especially not when Gunzerking.
  • Shotguns: Jakobs shotguns have some of the highest damage shots in the game, second only to rocket launchers. However they most often can only fire 1-3 shots before having to reload. They also fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. The small clip makes this almost useless. This however makes it an acceptable substitute to Rocket Launchers when you are downed, being able to kill a nearby enemy easier than many other guns.
  • Pistols: Their pistolsare Revolvers. They have some of the highest DPH (damage per hit) pistols in the game. They also have some of the most accurate pistols in the entirety of the borderlands. That, coupled with high damage, allows certain Jakobs revolvers to create good sniper substitutes. They have heavy recoil.
  • Assault Rifles: Jakobs assault rifles are essentially close range sniper rifles. Lower damage, less accuracy and less zoom than their real sniper counterparts limits them at long range. However they are definetely the best substitute if snipers are not an option. The only reason that makes them better than snipers at close range is the dramatically increased fire rate. These are terrible for Zer0 and most builds for Krieg and Salvador. However they work wonders with Axton.
  • Guns of Particular Note: The Greed, the Hydra, the Skullsmasher, the Hawk Eye, the Unforgiven, the Bekah, the Stinkpot, the Twister, the Judge, the Law, the Rex, the Orphan Maker, the Triquetra, the Damned Cowboy, the Stomper, the Buffalo, the Tresspasser, the Cobra, the Elephant gun, the Maggie, the Hammer Buster, and the Striker.
Maliwan
Maliwan is one of the most iconic companies in the game. They are completely unrivaled in the field of elemental damage and chance. They have a unique sleek and white design for most of their weapons. Certain guns work well with any class. Most Maliwan weapons work best for Gaige, Maya, and most work for Krieg. Where form meets function.
  • Pistols: A Maliwan pistol is a very good for any class wanting an elemental weapon. They tend to have damage far below Jakobs and torgue pistols, but more than bandit. Their damage is about on par with most Hyperion and Dahl weapons and slightly higher than most Vladof weapons. They often have a low fire rate, small clip, and reload relatively slowly. They however have very high elemental chance and elemental damage. Their bullets move slower than Dahls, Hyperions, Bandits, or Jakobs but faster than torgue bullets. Their accuracy is usually acceptable, but not spectacular. This paired with the bullet speed rule them out as a sniper replacement.
  • Sub-Machine Guns: A Maliwan smg is a very powerful weapon in the right classes hands, but a worthless peashooter in the hands of many others. They often have very low damage, even for an smg, and a high fire rate, though not as high as Vladof. They have low elemental chance, though this is balanced out by the fact that they fire so rapidly. They often have elemental damage about the same as pistols give or take. They work excellent with Krieg, Gaige, and especially Maya. If Maya increases elemental chance it can affect nearly every enemy you hit. They don't work for most Axton builds and nearly and Slavador or Zer0 builds.
  • Sniper Rifles: Maliwan sniper rifles are an odd bunch. They have very low damage, making them sub-optimal for use as an actual kill sniper. However their elemental chance is extremely high and so is their elemental damage. This creates an odd conundrum. They can't be used as well by long range classes such as Zer0 and certain Axton builds, but they can't be used by close range elemental classes such as Maya or Gaige. However they have a few utterly exceptional sniper rifles that virtually any class can use like the Volcano. If used right these can tear through a boss or a battlefield in a very short time. If they are used incorrectly you can be overunn by a few midgets.
  • Rocket Launcher: Maliwan makes some of the best Rocket Launchers in the game. They have massive elemental damage. They have good damage, even for rocket launchers. They have a decent elemental chance. They also often have a unique way of firing. A prime example is the Norfleet and the Pyrophobia. They can be effectively used by virtually any class except Zer0. Zer0 can still use them to good effect with the proper play style however.
  • Guns of Particular Note: Rubi, the Grog Nozzle, the Good Touch, the Bad Touch, the Chulainn, the Crit, the Chère-amie, the Pimpernel, the Hive, the Thunderball Fists, the Hellfire, the Volcano, the Norfleet, the Pyrophobia, the Infection, the Florentine, the Storm, and the Wanderlust.

This section of the Big Borderlands Book of Badassness will cover the extensive amount of easter eggs and secrets in Borderlands 2 and how to reach them.

Meet Solitaire

Location: Caustic Caverns
Go to the location where you battle Blue the giant Crystalisk, in the distance you should be able to see a small island with a lone tree. It is possible to reach this island and if you do, you can find Solitaire from the Dark Souls game series along with several ghostly figures that fade in and out sitting around a fire.

Minecraft
Location: Caustic Caverns

Head to the north east corner of the map to where the rail tracks end. When there, turn right and drop off a small ledge made of sqare stone slabs, then turn left and go until to meet a wall made of dirt blocks from the game Minecraft. Smash these blocks with your melee attack and continue through another wall of stone and coal blocks (Coal blocks will drop ammo and grenades). You end up in a room where Creeper enemies from Minecraft appear, including a Badass varient. These enemies will have a chance to drop Minecraft themed customization items for the classes and two weapons, The Longbow, a Hyperion sniper rifle that shoots arrows, and the Blockhead, a Tediore shotgun that shoots a three by three grid of blocks.

Beware these guys' explosive demise

These guys will drop the best loot (But beware since only only one spawns!)

Tannis Rides Again
Location: Sawtooth Cauldron

Run straight from spawn until you reach the large bandit camp. Clear out the enemies then look for a greenish shack on your left. To the right of this house there is a metal girder that drops off. Jump off and you will find yourself infront a large lake after you kill all of the enemies that spawn (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT SO THAT YOU CAN ENJOY THE EASTER EGG IN PEACE) look towards the lake. There will be elemental barrels of each type near the lake shoot and destroy them in this order: BLUE (ELECTRIC), RED (INCENDIARY), GREEN (CORROSIVE), YELLOW (EXPLOSIVE), PURPLE (SLAG). If done correctly spikes and saw blades will rise from the water, the rest is for you to find out.

Arrow to the Knee Meme
Location: Sanctuary

In reference to the famous Arrow to the Knee meme some civillians have a chance of telling you
" I used to be a Vault Hunter like you, until I took a bullet to the knee." This is modifided version of the line said by guards in the game Skyrim.

DoomDen's How To
Author: (DoomDenBoys)Tank
How to get the maggie
The maggie is a jakobs revolver which fires like a dahl weapon (blasting many bulllets at once) You get it from killing the zafords at the train station in the final "Clan war" quest.
Who gives you the quest?
You get the quest from this tidy wee boot

What do i have to do to get the gun?
You have to complete all of the Clan war quests but on the final battle where you have to choose which side to kill and to get this gun you will have to kill the zafords. After you kill them Mick zaford will have a chance to drop the gun.
I didn't get the gun after killing him what do I do?
If you do not get the gun after killing him which is likely all you have to do is to find this and travel there and travel back to the same place where the fight is taking place. You can do that, save and quit and go back in or alt+f4 which automatically quits the game without saving.
What do I get if I do the same but i kill the hodunks instead?
If you choose to kill the hodunks to farm a different legendary you may get the slagga (a really good bandit smg)
What do the hodunks and zafords look like?
the hodunk leaders look like this

and the zafords look like this

Tales From The Borderlands
Author: TheBeatsGoBoom

Yet another borderlands game has been released but instead by telltale. This game has a borderlands storyline with an interactive story so you can change the way you play. This might not be as interesting as previous borderlands games but you should still check it out because it still has action in it. There is also the possibility that, when/if released on steam, we will be making a guide for that.
