Mt.Sabij Caldera [[Antares Confederacy: Embasora]]

This is a map of the Mt.Sabij caldera. A location on Vinh, and once home to origins of the Commonwealth of Embasora.

Mt.Sabij Caldera. Once a massive and vast range of mountains and home to the tallest mountain on Vinh before it's eruption as Mount Obsidian, named for the beautiful dark indigo/black rocks, is now the biggest crater in the Antares System.

In 10 AL, ten years after the hasty landing of one of the largest colony ships in the Earheart flotilla and the creation of the then capital city Plymouth, the often small to medium (or 1-7 on the Richter scale) vinh-quakes that occurred ceased. Original theories as having landed directly on a fault line and that being the reason for the constant quakes was proven incorrect, to disastrous results.

On Khumbula 14th 128 BAE (4th of July at 12:20 pm, 2171 CE) Mt.Sabij erupted as a Mega Volcano, ranking VEI-8 Ultra-Plinian. The eruption sent a cloud of volcanic ash and rock to the highest parts of Vinh's upper atmosphere.

The Pyroclastic flow swept across 9/10ths of the landmass of Arken and the surrounding island chains. The aftermath of the Mt.Sabij eruption caused a blanking winter to take effect over the entirety of Vinh lasting 9 harsh months that nearly wiped out all human presence of Vinh.

In the first minutes alone, the entire population of Plymouth, housing 78% of all the colonists living on the planet, died to various causes as the pyroclastic flow entombed the makeshift city.

Still, even after its violent eruption, the discovery that Mt.Sabij was an active volcano was met with horrifying dread.

In response to the revalation, the Commonwealth of Embasora tasked the many academy of Vinh and the Antares Confederacy to design a way to reign in and tame the volcano for good.

The final design was the Reclamation Colonies Sites, or 'RCS' as it's often called, a string of geothermal extractors that would even out the constant build up of pressure underneath the caldera.

As of now, the RCS works as intended, releasing the pressure and stopping a volcanic erruption. However, more could still be done in the prevention of an erruption.

Recently, the Embasora Assembly has deemed the land safe enough to start inhabiting once again and to start operations to finally upgrade and refit the RCS. This will start the works into finally laying to rest the largest volcano on the planet.
