Vittoria SAR-19 class - 20m fast response ship

설명
Vittoria SAR-19 class - 20m fast response ship

This vessel is based on the Italian Vittoria shipyard SAR-19 class as found on the naval yards website. The interior and performance is fully fictional and adapted to the needs and restrictions of Stormworks. It's designed for ease of use and suitable for various ingame career mission types.

Instructions

Start up:
  • instrument switch (instrument panel) ON
  • key button (instrument panel) ON to start the engines

The ship has active stabilisation and is mostly self righting. Though it is unlikely, it is possible that the vessel does capsize and end up floating on it's roof (I only managed to make this possible when I spawned the ship upside down with empty fuel tank in calm waters). If you need it, there is a "decapsize mode" button on the overhead panel that will unlock after 20 seconds of upside down time.

Because of the water jets I implemented some logic to limit the power when the hull loses water contact. On the instrument panel is also a manual trim lever to lift or lower the nose up or down. Nose up trim can give a slight speed increase in suitable weather and in heavy seas you can trim nose down to dig the ship deeper into the water.

Features
  • bridge equipment: autopilot, HUD, touchscreen map, fuel management screen, throttle display, LIDAR with collision warning, RADAR, rear facing camera, acoustic emergency beacon finder, Radio, manual trim, decapsize mode, water ingress monitoring system, bilge pumps (see credits below)

What I described in my last comment happened to me again with really low waves so I decided to investigate - without really knowing what I'm doing.
I slapped pressure sensors to the air intake pipes and noticed a pressure drop to 0 - that's also when the engines went out.

I added small pumps to both intake systems right near the engines which only partially helped so I moved them way further up to the intakes. Haven't had the engines shutting off again since.

Replacing the scoop intakes by one of the other variants might have worked as well without pumps but I like their looks :D

Hi, I'm glad you enjoy it! A possible cause is when the ship is under water for longer periods of time. The air intake of the engines and generator is on top of the roof. In really rough seas the roof can be under water for most of the time because of the high waves, so the engines can not run and the control unit wants to restart them over and over until the battery is drained empty. Due to it's relatively small size, this ship is unfortunately not really suited for the high seas in rough weather. You could try to go fast to use momentum to carry you along or switch the engines off and wait for the worst weather to pass.

Thanks for this nice ship!
I started using it yesterday but noticed that the engines would go out in rough seas and had trouble starting again (you could hear the starter trying over and over until successful eventually).

Unfortunately, I'm not competent enough yet to locate the source of that.
Do temperatures below freezing point play a role? Do I need to heat the engine room?

Hi, thanks for your feedback. I added ventilation to all compartments.

when you have the bilge pumps on it pulls a vacuum. you just have to open the door

Thanks for the information! I adapted the drive train to the altered physics and the ship is usable again with decreased overall performance. Top speed in calm waters is now 55 to 65 knots depending on fuel mass onboard. Higher speeds are possible when small waves are present, but the engines are still designed to cut power at around 75 knots. I also did some minor updates as stated in the change log.

any updates now that things seem to have somewhat settled down?

Hi! Yes, the space update broke the whole propulsion system. I'd like to fix the ship, but I'm honestly not sure if the physics stay like they are now. With every Stormworks "fix" the ship behaves differently. But at least it's not sinking anymore. I concluded that the water jets are broken right now and it makes no sense for me to try and repair the ship. Sorry for the disappointment.

doesnt seem to work atm is this because of the new update?

From the bridge go downstairs and on your right there is a display for the controls on the wall. I think you have to turn it on with the power button first.
