Description
Allows flint to be crafted from any stone with the Primitive Workbench mod.

For those of you that hate realism (I'm joking) I've conceded and made this for you.

For real though, if this helps you enjoy our mods better, have fun!

This will definitely work in 1.5, but I will update the version number soon when I get a chance.

Just FYI, the base mod has been patched to drop 50 limestone chunks on every map. Even if there's no mineable limestone.

I'm not saying you shouldn't use this mod but just wanted to mention it in case you wanted the extra challenge.

Phew, thanks so much, this makes my life so much easier - naked tribal brutality with 1 pawn and no research - and no limestone on the map - would be a bit much without this ;)

Thanks for the update, and yeah, I just changed the recipe so all stone chunks give 25 flint. I suppose it would have been just as easy to change the original recipe to use any stone chunks, huh...

Love the mods but yeah, Makes things a bit ridiculous, especially when you have an ideology receipt that keeps you from mining large amounts of stone, and you can't even make wooden weapons because they require huge amounts of stone chunks.

I appreciate the attempt at realism, but I figure that --at least for my game-- in a world where you can mine steel straight out of the ground as-is, there's no real argument against flint nodules being found in rocks such as slate which are metamorphic rocks formed from the same type of sedimentary stones in which flint is found on our planet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you for continuing your hard work. I adore your mods for my tribal games (which are almost all of my games)

So, there are several ways to acquire flint if you are short on Limestone. Primitive traders (including most modded ones) have been patched to carry a supply of flint. Tribal raiders can drop flint. And sending a caravan to a nearby tile with limestone to mine flint is a decent strategy, (especially if you have Set Up Camp.) The various Quarry mods can help if you use those.

Otherwise, it is recommended to start on a tile with Limestone or accept the challenge of having a scarce resource. (Note: Obsidian and Chalk from Extra Stone have been patched to give Flint as well for accuracy.)

This mod was made as a sort of compromise between our vision of accuracy and those that don't care about that. You should actually get 4* flint if you have a high skilled pawn at a table (Spots reduce efficiency)

*4 is now 6 because I'm nice and I increased the amount a little. You are also free to edit the XML in your copy if you feel you need more. Simply change the value of Products->VBY_PrimitiveFlint to whatever you want.

Yeah, 100%, if you don't happen to be on a map with limestone, you are fucked. You can't make any advanced bows or tools, and are stuck with extreme basics. 1 stone chunk makes, at low rates, 10-15 blocks. Yet smashing TWO together makes only 2 flint? What?

And then Greatbows require 35 Flint! Not steel, not iron, not metal, FLINT! And so much that it'd need a total of 36 chunks to make!

Okay, you seriously need to make a better way to get flint if you are going to require it for even basic bows. 2 chunks for 2 flint? Really?
