RNLI Arun Class Lifeboat

Description
RNLI Arun Class Lifeboat

Description and History:

The Arun-class lifeboat was a fast all-weather lifeboat designed by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for service at its stations around the coasts of the United Kingdom and Ireland. They were operated by the RNLI between 1971 and 2008. Many have been sold to see further service in the lifeboat and coastguard services of other countries.

This particular model is based on 52-18 'Robert Edgar' which was based at St Mary's Lifeboat station on the Isles of Scilly between 1981-97, the Relief Fleet between 1997-99 and Weymouth Lifeboat Station between 1999-2002. The lifeboat was moored afloat and reached using a small tender by the crew of 6 with the capability to reach 18.5 knots and a range of 250 miles thanks to her two 485 BHP engines. At 52 feet (16 meters) in the length and with self-righting capability, she is able to withstand all weather conditions encountered around the Scilly Isles and further out to sea.

Stormworks Lifeboat:

To start, turn on the two electric breakers then fuel, cooling and engine buttons on the Mechanics station in the wheelhouse. You can then start and control engine and steering from either of the helm positions in the wheelhouse on the flybridge. There are various systems in the wheelhouse such as Radar, GPS, Plotter and Beacon Finder. Medical and sea-going equipment is located around the vessel. A Y-Class Lifeboat is carried on the roof of the wheelhouse and can be launched and recovered from the aft deck for rescues close to shore where the Arun cannot reach.

Some of the systems are not yet functional such as the generator and radios, hoping to complete these soon. Some areas of the vessel are quite bare and I plan to add more detail.
