Wood Elf Enchanted Munitions

Description
This mod was inspired by two mods.

The first is Wood Elf Ammunition Types by duds: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2062907550

While currently not updated, it was a rather interesting mod that allowed Wood Elf Units to switch between the different established types of Enchanted Arrows while in a battle, similar to how Eagle Claws/Reavers can switch between single-shot and multi-shot.

The other is Wood Elf Enchanted Arrows upgradable units by Drakyrie: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2325988584

This mod took advantage of the Aspect mechanic introduced for tree units and applied it to the Wood Elf Archers, allowing the base units to be upgraded, not just with the varieties of Enchanted Arrows already in the game, but also with the other three variants that were available in tabletop.

I've decided to take the best of both these mods and apply my own unique twist.

At the present, the base versions of each ranged Wood Elf Unit can switch mid-battle to one of six choices, each based on a variant of Enchanted Arrow in tabletop. There have also been slight range increases for Deepwood Scouts, Hawk Riders, and Waywatchers. All Wood Elf Ranged units also can ignore foliage for longer periods of time.

Here's a basic overview of the arrows and their effects:

Trueflight Arrows (the base variant that each unit begins the battle set too)
- Additional Range
- Ignore Shields
- Foliage Grace Period is essentially permanent
- Homing
- Inflict Blinded status condition (Hawk Riders and Waywatchers only)

Arcane Bodkins
- Armor Sundering (Sisters of Thorn and Waywatchers inflict a status condition called Shattering which is essentially a combination of Armor Sundering and Shieldbreaker)
- Large amounts of both base and AP damage

Hagbane Tips
- Magical Damage
- Poison (Sisters of Thorn and Waywatchers additionally give a DoT equivalent to Skaven Poison Wind)

Moonfire Shots
- Majority AP
- Fire Damage
- Flammable Status (Waywatchers trade Flammable for a status condition that lowers physical, missile, and magic resistance)

Starfire Shafts
- Majority AP
- Fire Damage
- Discourage Status (Waywatchers gain a Flammable/Discouraged combined status effect)

Shiftshiver Shards
- Double Shot (Triple for Waywatchers) but less range
- Magic Damage
- Slight increase in AP
- Waywatchers gain the Dampen Status effect.

I would not particularly label this as balanced so it's in no way shape or form meant for multiplayer (unless the guy, or gal, facing the Wood Elves is a masochist). I'll probably end up increasing the cost (and ammo) just to give the illusion of it in campaign.

Known Flaw: There is one major issue and that is due to some hard-coding that I am currently trying to work around. The Sisters of Twilight have their unique missiles labeled different and their icons are replaced. Their weapons are still the same and it's just a UI issue. If anyone knows how to make them shoot "Artillery" Shot Types then I can make the necessary changes. It's due to the number of shot-types being hardcoded and currently infantry only have six types.

I hope everyone enjoys bringing destruction to the foes of Athel Loren. Good Hunting!

Not sure if you're looking for balance suggestions, but after playing some time with this mod, waywatchers get kind of ridiculous during campaign. About 100 turns in, and waywatchers have missile damage values of >130. Most of the other archer units are powerful, but don't get to this extent. If you get the chance, you may want to tone down the missile damage on the waywatchers. I'm trying to do it myself, but my modding skills blow. Really do love the mod though, makes microing my missile units really interesting. Cheers!

You're right, I tried both mods together and the UI was a mess (though still fun to see hawk riders with a grudgeraker icon, could be a mod hawkrider with shotguns/snipers haha)
I understand that it might be a mess to fix and adaot, thanks for your reply and awesome mod!

@timbiscuit Unfortunately it appears that SFO has a number of other ammo-switching options already so making a version compatible with SFO would involve screwing with the UI of those units in addition to the Sisters of Twilight. I'll try to work out a solution, but for now it seems unlikely.

Possibly. I'd have to look over their data files to see which units use different firing modes. I'll definitely consider it though.

any plan to add it as an SFO version?

I might make something for Waystalkers.

Thanks for the nice mod, BTW no arrows for waystalker. Can you update for that?
And if possible, Orion too...for multiple spears.....
