West Highland Line Full

Welcome to the full West Highland Line!

This is a merged version of the following routes:

Suburban Glasgow Northwest
West Highland Line South
West Highland Line Extension
The Oban Line

Many thanks to both Thomson Interactive and Milepost Simulations for permission to include their products in this merged route. Please note that I have had to retexture routes that are merged in to use the same texture set. This may give some of the routes a different "look" than supplied out the box! Thanks to Michael Hamilton for permission to include the Oban line.

The revamped scenery has now reached Dalmally on the Oban line (updated April 13, 2021).

For more information and for some scenario downloads, see the Suburban Glasgow website at:

@kentboy - it does not require Metropolitan Line. The requirements are simply the source routes plus European Loco and Asset Pack. I'm not sure why the Workshop would be telling you it needs anything else!

Great merge. Can't wait to have a full run from Glasgow to Mallaig now! Thank you for doing this

Can't get this route to show up. According to the 'in game' Workshop tab, there are more required add-ons which are not listed in the description above - one being Metropolitan Line. Well, I'm not buying that rubbish. Shame, because this full route looks amazing.

I am having issues with this. SO keen as it is my local line. but it keeps telling me I need other extensions such as the glasgow airport link, midland mainline route (london to bedford), the metropolitan route, a us loco and asset pack, uk led asset and train moddlers assets which are both retired for some reason making me unable to use. I mean I have everything mentioned that I needed fro, here so it installed the full route. I bit confused. Help would be appreciated

WOW! Is all I can say. It must be around 15 years since I created the Oban Line and to be able to drive all the way from Glasgow now is awesome. It's taken me a while to get round to it as didn't have the suburban bit, I do now. Also, I love the work you've done from Crianlarich to Dalmally. Gives it a much more polished look. Can't wait to see you finish the rest of it. Thank you

I'm going to create a scenario pack for it. One down, a few to go :D

Thank you for your reply tluamiani. If I knew how to get EandG and WCML North into the one route, I would like to try joining them together. I appreciate that a good bit of route building would be necessary, but as far as track laying is concerned, that doesn't bother me. As I see it, I've already filled the gaps twice, but haven't had the WCML South in the package, to which I can join it. If I knew how to get it in, it would be very helpful, thanks again for your feedback.

PS. I'm now going to explore Blender and see how I get on.

@codeyking350 - sure, thanks for pointing that out. I'll have a look at that in due course, when I'm working on the Oban line again, and hopefully have it fixed for the next version.

@andrewpearson755 - it is very difficult and time consuming to merge routes, especially if they do not share the same start location. Plus, even if you do get them bolted, you'll still need to do some actual route building in order to blend them together! For 3D design, I almost exclusively use blender now for new items, although there was a time where I used 3DCrafter as well. 3DC is still useful for one thing - as far as I know, it's the only 3D software that actually allows you to import IGS files! This can be very useful.

On a different tact, and perhaps this is not the thread to do this, but I am new to forums, so please bear with me, what is used nowadays to create scenery objects? I've got an old version of Amabilis 3dCrafter Pro, which was my 2nd piece of modelling software, with which I've had limited success on TS 2020/21. I would be obliged if someone could point me in the right direction if necessary for the right thread, and/or in the right direction to acquire the software used nowadays.

How do you merge routes? Twice, I have laid running track, on two releases of Edinburgh and Glasgow, to fill the gaps between Castlecary, Springburn, and Coatbridge on the EandG, via Cumbernauld, Gartcosh, and Stepps. I emphasize however, that these are simply running tracks, little or no scenery has been included. I've always liked the idea of joining EandG with WCML South, as has been mentioned elsewhere in this thread. If I knew how to merge routes, I would love to try doing so with these two, at least to allow running between them. I doubt whether I would have the skill or patience however, that some of you guys/gals seem to have in creating the scenery.
