Great Lakes

Description
This map of the Great Lakes region of North America, focuses on Southern Ontario (Canada) and includes some of Michigan, New York State, and a sliver of Pennsylvania. Lakes included are: Huron, Ontario, and Erie.

In terms of natural resources, the geography of the region and distribution of natural resources make this region rather interesting. Southern Ontario, while excellent for farming and forestry (at least it used to have trees...) with excellent access to hydroelectricity (I recommend installing some mods for this), doesn't have much other natural resources needed for industrial production. You can get some coal/oil from Michigan, but will likely have to import these as your economy grows. Metals and uranium can be mined in the north, such as in the region surrounding Sudbury. Canada does not have any bauxite mines, but is the fourth largest producer of aluminum, so you'll have to import bauxite if you want to produce your own aluminum.

Enjoy rethinking the geography of this unique region of North America!

MAJOR UPDATES (May 1, 2022):
-Terrain smoothed for playability, particularly in the northern portions of the map
-Widened canals connecting the Great Lakes to allow ships to pass between them
-Added another region of coal that was missed originally (in Pennsyvlania) and some higher quality coal in Michigan

---
Because of the complexity of the region I simplified a number of things down. Suggestions for improvements are appreciated. Sources listed below were referred to in deciding where to put natural resources.

Update: Feb. 14, 2023

For the sake of playability I have added some Bauxite. I've additionally edited the borders: Soviet Block borders for Canada and NATO borders along the US.

@Bautz, Canada and the northern US has no Bauxite, so I have not added any.

@Tesmio, I have FINALLY, gotten around to smoothing the terrain, as well as other improvements (like ability for ships to navigate through the canals connecting the Great Lakes).

Great idea for a map I love it. The Trent Severn Waterway is gonna become the Panama Canal!

The author, a good map, thank you. Only it is impossible to play on it. Before uploading a png elevation map to the game, edit it in the editor to add flat areas. No one is interested in sitting and spending a lot of time leveling the mounds.

What about Bauxit?

Impressive. All in one.

Respect.

@siberian_forester_78

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd never done one of those before, but I figured out how to make one. It's added now (after the screenshots).

Could you, please, add resources map?

In general, the map is cool.
