Description
Welcome to Date, Japan

I'm BonBonB, best known for my many Cities: Skylines tutorials, the weekly Steam chart show, and my daily map reviews, over on YouTube – www.YouTube.com/BonBonB

This map is the second from my exclusive YouTube show, 90 Minute Map Attack. It was created in just ninety minutes, built upon an imported height map.

The height map was taken from Date, a city in Iburi Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. Whilst using the real life highway as a guide, and basing the main intersection on the real life equivalent, I have taken some creative liberties, such as elevating the highway across the river valley. Also, the real river itself doesn't actually connect to the lake, but for the map I've made this as the water source.

While the trees aren't an exact botanical match for Japan, the ones I have chosen are aesthetically similar to the ones I saw whilst reserching in Google Earth. There's no rail that I could see in real life, thus no rail on the map. I have included shipping and air routes.

Given this map was a speed build I am fully aware that there will be some errors. The rule of the show is I have ninety minutes and no more - unless something is broken. I have made one post production fix, where the undersea resources were fertile and should have been oil. This has been corrected for gameplay purposes.

Please do feel free to list any drowned trees, clipping street lamps, missing pillars etc into the comments. I won't be updating the map... but I'm sure it will make many of you very happy :-)

There's a short requirement list, for which I've added a collection at the top of this description, or you can click this link:

I recommend using the AlaskaFinal theme, along with the Relight Average LUT.

If you're interested in seeing this map build in real time head on over to my channel and click the Join button. There's a new map build each and every month.

Thanks for reading. Don't forget to like this map, if you like it.

Hi Norek. I've just put Bautón onto the request list for you. It will take a few weeks for it to rise to the top, but it will be done. Keep checking the channel, most likely days are Tuesdays and Fridays for requests

hello I would like to contact you and I don't know where, to show you a map that I created with my own theme, to try to appear in your series of maps on Youtube if you like it of course, thank you very much.

Hope you don't mind Mr BBB, but I'm using this map on a new Youtube series. I put a link to it and your channel too... I am very much enjoying the map and it was perfectly suited to my needs. Great map!

Oh.. I changed the lane arrows on all roads in the editor when adding the extra highway and train track. Should'nt have done that I suppose. Figured since the lanes were left handed in the editor. But makes sense. Will have to re-do it :) thanks

@JLT: Not just me then :D
As for right hand drive, no need for the editor. Simply select right drive when starting the new map (is automatic for me). The actual roads are left drive in real life though.

@domi: honestly, there's an argument for 2 stars. I wouldn't agree. But given the speed build nature of the map I wouldn't complain much either,

Haha, I actually had to google for a certain station to be able to see the rail tracks. Took me sometimes to figure it out. Very interesting area though!

Anyhow, great map!

OT:
Had one slight, or pretty big problem unfortunately. I changed the directions of all high ways to be "right sided". All good when looking in Map Editor, but when I start a New Game, it's back to original. Loading the map in Map Editor again and lane direction just like I edited them..

Seen this before? Cheers
