Further Data

Description
Further Data is a brand new take on Half-Life: Uplink - Valve's demo of Half-Life. It's a personal project of mine featuring new maps, new voice lines, and miscellaneous assets.

To play, press the "Steam Workshop" button on the main menu and Further Data will appear. If you use the old UI, use the command "map fd01".

Epilepsy Warning
There is a brief scene of flashing that's a bit harsher than usual BM gameplay. I've toned it down for the public release. This occurs immediately after the intro text. Taking a few steps forward will trigger an event that causes the screen to flicker black for about 5 seconds.

Credits
The project was mostly solo as I created all maps and assets myself, however I did have other assorted help.

Voice Cast
Michael Hillard - Scientists
Nick Gikas - Security Guards

Known Issues
  • If you crash on startup, check your mods. A common mod that causes crashes with FD is "More Monitors."
  • Text strings aren't localized. I did this to minimize chances of game-breaking mod conflicts.
  • Guards speak in 2 different voices. I did this minimize chances of game-breaking mod conflicts (custom response rules script required).
  • Map FD02:Sometimes when you shoot the explosive crate behind the zombie, the wall debris can vibrate. Working on a fix for this.

    Additional Information (Synonyms!)
  • It's pronounced Further Data, NOT Further Data.
  • Most of this was made in 2015 and 2017, predating Xen and many Xengine features. This can show sometimes.
  • Barring voice overs (excluding the human grunts ^~^), all content, from maps, models and music, were all created by me.
  • Most of the blockout/layout was made in a day or so, since I originally wanted a super quick project to last a month. That didn't happen.
  • You can listen to and download the soundtrack for free via Bandcamp[fightingimpulsion.bandcamp.com].

Appreciate the help, Chris, turns out it was in fact More Monitors that caused the crash. Loved the mod!!!
