PAX ROMANA
5 items
Description
44 new units with historically accurate upgrade system from Servius Tulius Royal Romans and continues with all important Roman military reforms to the end of first century AD. It also features Roman Marines. Requires all PAX ROMANA parts. Patch 11 Compatible.

Overview
This mod is a colossal addition to the Pax-Romana series! It contains 44 new and unique units not currently found in any other mod, including all categories of cavalry, infantry, artillery and naval forces! Pax III introduces Royal Class system units as well as realistic Roman Marines. The Pax-Romana series aims to offer you historical accuracy in types of units as well as attention to detail in armor, weapons and even clothing, as well as battlefield functions. Unusual care has been taken to offer highly detailed patterns on clothing and armor with historically accurate helmets you may not have seen before. This mod is a visual feast to the eyes!

Unit Summary
Class Units
Rome was a very class conscious society and troops of the Royal Rome and early Republic were recruited by class. This mod is the first to reflect that with new “Class units” in six categories of seniors and juniors all set to upgrade as you progress in your growth and Rome’s military becomes more sophisticated. This is far more accurate than simply Hastati, Principes and Triarii. This mod contains 96 upgrades at this time (with more upgrades scheduled) to add new realism to your gaming experience and give you new goals to achieve.

Roman Marines and Sailors
This mod also enhances the naval experience with10 new naval units. The Romans classified a fleet soldier (classis milites) separately from armed sailors (nautae armati). The training, duties and armament and uniforms of these two separate classifications was also different. So when we refer to a Roman Marine we are not simply talking about a sailor with weapons, but rather a soldier of the fleet. Roman Marines were trained in both land and sea warfare whereas Roman army legionaries were typically trained in land warfare only. Roman Marines were trained in Legionary tactics to take those highly successful tactics to sea battles and they were also specifically trained in naval warfare from repelling boarders to special boarding parties as well as archery. Most often equipped with brass or bronze helmets and bronze muscle cuirass or Greek style layer laminate since iron armor did not hold up well in salt water environments and the cuirass was much easier to remove if a Marine fell overboard. You will find the Marines of this mod like the Marines of ancient Rome to be fierce, stubborn and skilled warriors who acquit themselves well in both naval and land battles. Nautae armati (armed sailors) are also reflected in new and unique skirmishers, archers and artillery greatly enhanced over the CA vanilla units.

Important to note

This mod will not function unless loaded with Pax-Romana I, II and IV. When using all four Pax-Romana mods you will also enjoy special formations and much longer battles. Roman battles typically lasted many hours. The Pax-Romana mods can increase your battles 15 to 45-60 minutes longer to give you time to be tactician on the field. You will also find new and exciting garrison units in Pax IV and 20 named historical legions in PAX II. It is also recommend that you use the new Pax-Romana Startpos to stream line your experience adding features such as 4 turns per year.

Some of the blues and reds are a bit bright thus losing a bit of immersion, however there are so many good looking units that I can play without using the aforementioned. Thanks for the all the hard work and effort.

I have had a problem with Rome after about 30 turns when I end a turn it freezes and crashes on the icon slaves so is there a bug that is causing this crash? I have had the same problem with other mods also

The battles are lasting way too long. Is there a way to get this down to about 15 minutes?
