CNC Civs - The People's Republic of China

Description
The wait is over. Adds the People's Republic of China, from Command & Conquer Generals, into the game as a fully playable new Civilization.

====!!!! IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY NOTICE !!!!====
This mod requires the Brave New World expansion pack to work, and WILL NOT function properly without it. However, as with every other mod I have created, I have chosen not to modify the dependency setting to require Brave New World, so those that do not have it can use the mod as they please. However, the mod is almost guaranteed to be a horribly broken - but playable - mess without the second expansion pack, so if you do not have the Brave New World expansion pack, proceed into a game with this mod at your own risk.

====Description====
The People's Republic of China, with its wide variety of unique promotions, abilities, and Units, is an extremely powerful Civilization that can serve as a valuable ally - or a very dangerous enemy. It specializes in nuclear weapons and overwhelming strength to achieve tactical superiority on the battlefield, using unmatched patriotism and ferocity to crush its enemies and enforce its will on the world stage. This is due to their unique promotions - all Chinese units receive the Horde Bonus promotion for free, and can be further upgraded with the Speaker Tower Propaganda promotion if they are constructed in a city with the Speaker Tower unique building. When combined with such heavy assault forces as the Overlord Tank, the result is a nigh-unstoppable fighting force that can dominate any battlefield and bring ruin to any Civilization foolish enough to cross China's path - if their cities aren't destroyed by nuclear weapons in the process.

====AI Warning====
Due to the fact that Tsing Shi Tao is the Chinese Nuke General, and due to the fact that he's - let's face it - outright obsessed with nuclear weapons, I felt it was fitting to set his Use Nuke and Build Nuke stat to a whopping twelve - the same level as Gandhi himself and the highest possible level for a personality statistic in the game. If Tsing Shi Tao is present in the game as an AI, acquires Uranium, and builds the Manhattan Project, then he will become an extremely dangerous threat. Challenge him, if you dare.

====Unique Ability - The People's Army====
All military forces of the People's Republic of China receive the unique Horde Bonus promotion for free, providing them with a 10% bonus to Combat Strength when they are adjacent to friendly forces. Does not apply to aircraft or naval units.

====Unique Unit 1 - Overlord Tank====
The Overlord Tank is an incredibly powerful armored Unit available to the People's Republic of China that can utterly crush its opposition and roll unstoppably through enemy territories. Despite the fact that the Overlord Tank is technically much weaker than the Giant Death Robot it replaces in terms of raw combat strength - 120 points compared to the Giant Death Robot's 150 - the Overlord Tank receives the Armor Plating 1 promotion for free, representing its thick armor by providing a +25% bonus to Defensive Strength. In addition, it also receives the Zulu Impi's Spear Throw promotion for free to represent the pair of gun barrels, which allows it to execute a powerful ranged attack before it enters melee combat which allows it to engage enemy forces twice in a single assault.

Despite the strengths of the Overlord Tank, however, it pays for these strong offensive abilities in speed and cost to build. The tank only has two points of Movement compared to the Giant Death Robot's five, meaning it is much slower than the Giant Death Robot it replaces and can easily be defeated by hit-and-run attacks. In addition, it has a slightly higher Production cost to build in a City and requires two Aluminum and one Oil to build rather than one Uranium. Even so, the Overlord Tank is easily capable of striking fear into the hearts of China's enemies, dooming them to their fates as it advances through their territory virtually unmatched.

====Unique Building - Speaker Tower====
The Speaker Tower is a unique Broadcast Tower replacer available to the Chinese that provides +4 Culture in Cities and broadcasts pro-Chinese propaganda to Chinese citizens and military forces alike, inspiring them to fight harder for the People's Republic and providing them with the unique Speaker Tower Propaganda promotion. This promotion will provide Chinese forces with a +5% bonus to Combat Strength and automatic healing every turn, even if they perform an action. This allows them to fight on the battlefield for much longer periods of time, and if this promotion is combined with the unique Horde Bonus promotion of the unique trait, the result is a nigh-unstoppable force that can easily best any rival to the People's Republic and ensure Chinese dominance across the world. As if that wasn't enough, the Speaker Tower Propaganda promotion does apply to naval forces built in coastal Cities - allowing Chinese warships to heal automatically every turn, regardless of whether or not they are in friendly waters. The catch is that the Speaker Tower is a very expensive structure to build - as it requires one Aluminum, is unlocked much later in the technology tree at Telecommunications rather than Radio, and has a whopping maintenance cost of 4 Gold per turn.

====Credits====
Usernamehere, for making the mod.
Every man, woman, and child, who worked on the Command & Conquer franchise as well as Generals and Zero Hour, and contributed to making them a reality.
All the respective creators of the music and artwork used.

Rather than just a single war, peace, and loading screen theme, China uses every China-themed song in the original C&C Generals soundtrack (plus the theme songs to both the base game and Zero Hour) to serve as their music themes. Except the C&C Generals main theme, which serves as the loading screen theme, every one of the following songs can play randomly during peace or while at war. They are as follows:

Zero Hour Main Theme
Don't Stop Until it's Over
Firestorm
Mother of All Weapons
Overlord Moving
Red Army Rising
Runaway Train
The Dragon Awakes
The Middle Kingdom

That's sad...

I hope he finds a way to get out of that job so he has more free time.

The mod authors of ROTR seemed to be showing no signs of appearing. ilhom has just asked if there were updates as of new year.

Unfortunately, Realistic1, in a reply to ilhom, quoted from Mizo_ROTR: "TheHunter is pretty much responsible for 90% of content creation and coding. He's right now put in a job position that requires him to give alot of time, energy and responsibility at. We're just waiting for him to appear again if ever."

Until now, we are completely unsure what TheHunter and others are currently up to...

It wasn't in the folder at all, but i found a solution through a steam workshop download website. Just unpacked it into the mod folder, and it's working fine.

That's a very well-known issue with a set of fixes.

The first step is to go into your Documents folder, then to My Games - Civilization V - MODS, and search for the mod files and tell me what you find there.

If you find the mod as a .civ5mod file, then that means the game didn't unpack the mod properly.

If you don't find the mod in there at all, that means it didn't download from the Steam workshop properly.

Depending on which one it is I'll tell you what to do next.

The other generals mods work fine, but this one doesn't show up in the mod folder

Geeze, I had no idea the last update has been so long ago. I hope the developers find a way to get more time with each other, because I'd hate to see Rise of the Reds become a dead mod.

There has been an inactivity in Rise of the Reds of C&C Generals: Zero Hour.

It's mod author, Hunter and others, all have been busy, thus, they could be having limited time available to interact as what Matthew_Vanston have said. Also, MaelstromX103 said that the mod development seems to be slowed down. I'm afraid the ROTR mod might be on the verge of being removed to the archives in ModDB if inactivity continues to take too long. The last update is as of 2015. Not only that, the ROTR is very buggy because of limitations in the SAGE engine C&C Generals: Zero Hour currently has.
