Description
These are the standardized containers that I configured to be loaded onto my CX-05-C transport plane using the 9 block across cargo rails. They are assorted fuel containers, water containers, dry goods storage, equipment storage, a deployable generator, and a deployable electric vehicle. All of the containers were fit with parachutes and transponder beacons to be dropped out of the plane in flight. All of the fluid containers have pump systems to be loaded and unloaded or used to refill other vehicles. The square containers have track grips and brakes going both forward and lateral directions. The longer, rectangular containers only have forward track grips and brakes. Each container uses the same air-drop micro-controller to activate the parachutes and beacons. They are activated with arming switches on the back, right side of the containers. Once armed, the system starts tracking the absolute value of vertical speed. It deploys the parachute and activates the beacon as soon as the vertical speed goes above 5 meters per second. Only arm the system after the plane has leveled off at a safe cruising altitude. If the system is armed during takeoff or while climbing, the parachute will deploy in the cargo hold and make the container useless. The shipping containers also have electrical connectors to move them with forklifts, trucks, and cranes. Once the container has been located on the ground, deactivate the transponder by disabling the arming switch on the control panel. In theory, the system can be reset and rearmed, but the parachute only allows a one-time-use. The system can be reset by enabling and disabling the arming switch to reset the push to toggle on the speed sensor.

I tested dropping the containers from flying level at 300 meters. The large containers can land safely using only 3 parachutes, but I have 4 installed based on the chance of turbulence or a low altitude drop. The small containers took some damage when only using one parachute and took no damage using two. All of the containers have been tested by being dropped from above 300 meters and they all made it to the ground safely, and with no damage.
