Save and make file read-only. (Right click the file, check box "Read-only").

Ps.: These settings below make a huge difference, but lowering or turning it on make the graphics horrible.

Lower this to make the game look horrible + FPS - Lowering this too much makes the rocks/terrain strange and can screw up your line of sight.
"setting.r_lod_switch_scale" "0.100000" (0.32000 is the minimum setting that don't screw up the LOS for me)

Turn this on to make the game horrible but with huge FPS - But it really looks horrible. Be aware lol.

If you like TSAA like me just leave the "setting.mat_antialias_mode" "12" as it was
nowdays no game can run smoothly without any tweaks, gotta say this guide actually makes the game smoother and better fps, Even tho i run 16 gb memory with 2060, it barely runs 80 on high

do these still work and if they do would i download the video config file and then drag it into the folder that has the old config then delete the old config

These values will force the game to keep the matching FPS.
There is a formula to calculate these, but here are the common fps settings people want.
The "1" value is to force the maximum FPS your system can handle.

120 FPS: min 7949 - max 8200

144 FPS: min 6592 - max 6800

200 FPS: min 4750 - max 4900

can i for example have:

or does it have to be either "1" or "6592"/ "6800" only?

click on the videoconfig file --> properties---> check read only it will save the config so you dont need to rewrite it every time

Gotta add here. If every instruction is followed, the resolution will have to be set to the preferred setting manually every time the game is started.
