The Outer Worlds: Achievement Guide

In the game there are missable achievements. They are mostly mutually exclusive. During the first pass, you can only complete a part of them, while during the second pass, you need to make completely opposite decisions from the first pass. Or before certain missions, make saves and replay the mission twice, making different decisions. For example:

• «Everybody Like Me» & «Destroyer of Worlds»
  
• «Peace in Out Time» & «Monarch Abides»
  
• «Mightier than the Sword» & «Ludwig was Right»

And also, the missable achievements include achievements for completing side quests. Your reputation in the city among various groups affects this. Therefore, when you arrive at a new location, first of all complete side quests with achievements.

For using search [ctrl]+[F], enter a description of the achievement, not its name.

Missable achievments

Had maximum positive reputation with 3 factions.
Complete quests for a particular faction. The progress of relations with each of the factions can be viewed in the diary.
Had maximum negative reputation with 3 factions.
Kill the faction's rebel groups.

For those that have a negative reputation with the Board, you can still complete the fashion and the Parvati date quest. You have to leave companions behind or set them on passive, then kill the two guards in the shop without killing Celleste herself. Wait awhile, then come back and she won't aggro as long as no Board guards are there.

Brokered peace between the Iconoclasts and MSI.
Mutually exclusive achievement "Monarch Abides". Before completing the "Canid's Cradle" quest, make a save. In the course of completing the quest you will get "Cantankerouse Canid Targeting Module" from a fallen spaceship. Give the found module to Sanjay.
Won the battle of Stellar Bay.
Mutually exclusive achievement "Peace in Our Time". Before completing the "Canid's Cradle" quest, make a save. In the course of completing the quest you will get "Cantankerouse Canid Targeting Module" from a fallen spaceship. Give the found module to Graham.

Saved Edgewater permanently.
Mutually exclusive achievement "Ludwig was Right". In the "Comes Now the Power" quest, choose redirect power to Edgewater. Convince Thomas and Grace to return to Edgewater, but leave Reed as a leader.
Brought robo-destruction to Edgewater.
Mutually exclusive achievement "Mightier than the Sword". In the "Comes Now the Power" quest, choose redirect power to Botanical Laboratory.

Also for Ludwig was Right and Mightier than the Sword you might want to mention that they are end game achievements. I spent a while trying to figure out why they weren't unlocking because all you said was that I had to give power to either one.

So with my rush to grab missable achievements 'mightier than the sword' as well as 'Ludwig was right' are tied to the board side of the playthrough. Got mightier after clearing the radio story mission on monarch and talking to Sophia after that when she talks about Edgewater. And with Ludwig, after clearing the radio mission and talk to sophia, you get a mission to destroy the geothermal plant and destroy the mechs in Edgewater town, it should unlock after killing the last mech.

Main quests

Story-line related.

Completed The Outer Worlds on any difficulty.
Completed The Outer Worlds on any difficulty.
Completed The Outer Worlds on supernova difficulty.

• Allocate the majority of your points into Charm and Temperament, until they are at least 'good'.
  Spend the rest on Dialog and Stealth. Don't forget to increase your skills every time you level up so you end up with 90+ Persuasion, Science and Hacking. This will make your speed running job significantly easier. Also, make sure to take advantage of the companion combat skills, so get your Leadership to lvl20 quickly as well. Your perk points should generally be allocated into health, dialog bonuses, and companion ability cooldowns.
  
  
• On Supernova, companions who die in combat encounters will not revive. The best way to get around this is simply to keep them out of dangerous combat, setting their AI to defensive and letting them hang back and shoot things.
  
  
• The general handicap settings for Supernova are the same as they are on Hard, but with worse repercussions. Enemies have more health and do more damage, which is why you just want to avoid all that. Where possible, persuade yourself out of combat and where you can't - take advantage of the environment and abuse your ranged weaponry. And, most importantly if possible, run.
  
  
• Do not neglect the survival aspects of the game: eating,sleeping, etc. Ignore it for too long and you straight up die. Buy water and food from all the vendors, and visit your ship often - sleeping is the only way to heal negative traits like concussions.
  
  
• You can now only fast travel to your ship.
  Saving: You can now only manually save on your ship, and auto-saves only happen when transitioning to a new location. You can abuse the save system however. When inside a building after fight you can backtrack and leave to make an auto-save and reload it. When out in the open, you can travel to your ship and reload that for a free save.

Skipped the Hope into the sun.
To get this ending you need to have a low character intelligence. You can get it:

• Create a character with low intelligence initially.
  
• Using “Adrena-Time” (x3).

During quest “Kept secret but not forgotten” (storyline) choose “[DUMB] Stand back, ADA. I know number real good.”

Side quests

Completed the SubLight quest lines.
Complete all 3 Lilya Hagen quests. She is located on the Groundbreaker. Lilya Hagen will give you 3 quests:

• Space-Crime Continuum
  
• The Ice Palace
  
• The Chimerist's Last Experiment

Saved the universe’s greatest diet toothpaste recipe.
Side quest "The Distress Signal". Get on the Groundbreaker from Gladys. Return the documents to Anton.

Starred in an Odeon Pictures movie.
Complete the "At Central" side quest that Maverick Johnston gives out in Byzantium.

Dealt with the cartographer.
Complete "The Demolished Woman" quest on Byzantium. To get this side quest you must attempt to turn in Phineas to the board through Udom Bedford.

Companions

Recruited all of the companions.
SAM is a robot that is located on your spaceship. But in order for it to become a companion, it must be repaired. In the process of completing this achievement, you will also receive the "Best friend" achievement.

Completed all companion quests.
Companions on the spaceship will let you know if they have a quest for you, or start a dialogue with them. In the process of completing this achievement, you will also receive the "Anything for a Friend" achievement.

Each of your companions has their own cabin on the spaceship. Collected items below will automatically be added as cosmetic items in your companion's cabin.

Equipment and skills

Simultaneously equipped Spacer’s Choice brand clothing, headgear, and 4 weapons.
"Spacer’s Choice" equipment can be purchased from merchants on the Groundbreaker.

Wore ‘A Nice Hat’ and ‘Chimaera’ at the same time.
For this achievement, you need to wear a suit and hat. The suit is issued after the completion of the quest "Makes Space Suits, Won't Travel". The quest is given by Celeste Jolicoeur in “Byzantium” (right screenshot). The hat can be found on the Monarch (left screenshot).

Special action

Simultaneously had bonuses for meat, carbohydrates, sugary drink, caffeine, and alcohol.
There are two stores in Edgewater where you can buy all these products. The screenshots below show two stores and items that need to be purchased from merchants in these stores.

Succeeded at 3 dialog conversation checks with a single disguise.
To get an achievement, you will need 40 skill levels: Persuade, Lie, or Intimidate. Performed on the Groundbreaker. Go to any restricted area (for example, the medical block where you will find an Ellie companion). And wait until you lose your disguise, then the guard will talk to you. Select the dialog with the skill application.

Improved your gear 30 times through tinkering and mods.
The workbench can be found in Parvati's apartment or on your spaceship. Complete any 30 operations on the workbench to get an achievement.

Killing with different damage types

Turned 100 enemies to ash with plasma damage.
Killed 30 automechanicals with shock damage.
Killed 20 enemies that were infected by spreading N-rays.

Killed an enemy that was hit with all 5 damage types.
This achievement can be completed either alone or with companions. First you need to find 5 weapons with different damage types - plasma, n-ray, shock, corrosion and normal. You can give your companions 1 weapon with different types, and keep 3 weapons for yourself. SAM has two weapons that do corrosive damage initially. Travel to the Monarch (or any other planet with dense monsters). You must shoot the monster with all 5 weapons damage types.

Killed an enemy under the effects of 4 science weapons.
For this achievement, you will need 2 companions. Give them science melee weapons and prioritize melee / aggressive behavior. Travel to the Monarch (or any other planet with dense monsters). Activate TTD and kill enemies. The enemy needs to die while under 4 science weapon effects.

Killing without different damage types

Killed an enemy with a science weapon sneak attack during TTD, with a weakspot critical hit.
Sneak up to the enemy from behind, activate TTD and kill him with a melee weapon to the head.

Killed 50 enemies with a tossball stick or tossball blocker.
Tossball stick can be found on your spaceship.

Killed a mega creature.
The creature lives right under the Edgewater landing field.

Killed 50 enemies with companion abilities.
Killed 50 enemies with sneak attacks.
Hit 30 enemies in the groin during tactical time dilation.

Peril on Gorgon

Complete Peril on Gorgon on any difficulty.
Complete the dlc campaign. In addition to 3 endings, you will get one achievement for each of the endings.

• Greenlight Protocol - Power the reactor;
  
• NDA Protocol - Destroy the Synthesizer;
  
• Family Reunion - Achieve a compromise between Olivia and Minnie.

Deliver the journal to Lucien.

While completing this achievement, you will also receive an intermediate achievement «Peril at Hand» for finding the first Phonograph.

You need to find 3 weapons. The first one drop from "Charles from accounting" in "Marauder Stronghold".

The second is issued for completing the side quest "A dialogue between dead men". The quest is taken from the terminal and ends there. You need to collect 4 notebooks, their location is marked on the map, then go back to the terminal and answer all the questions of the terminal. After the correct answer to all 4 questions will open the door behind.

The last weapon is in the possession of a scientist in Olympia. You can either kill him, or just steal it from him.

Murder on Eridanos

Killed 50 Infected Humans or Parasites.

Investigated every suspect and reported to Administrator Ludovico.
In order to unlock this, you’ll need to question every suspect that is potentially involved with the murder. You’ll automatically get quests that’ll have you investigating each suspect except for one.
It’s important that you do not accuse anyone of being the murderer until you have completed each of the questlines named below. Each time you complete one, you’ll have to report back to Ludovico. Choose whatever dialogue options you want with him except for accusing somebody.

• The Prince of Tossball – Investigating Bertie
  
• The Man Who Chafed – Investigating Spencer Woolrich
  
• Lord of Blight – Investigating Sedrick
  
• The Productivity Queen – Investigating The Prophet

The Productivity Queen will be the quest that is easily missable. The first three on this list are automatically given to you, this one is not. In order to get this quest, go down to the lobby of your hotel and speak with Bellhop Norville. He can be found standing in front of the elevators with the red hat. Question him about the murder and he will eventually mention The Prophet. You’ll then be given the quest.

Asked a companion to be the Bad Inspector.
For this achievement, you’re going to want to make sure you bring a companion with you.
This is earned during the main story mission called “Prince of Tossball.” One of the objectives will be to speak to Black Hole Bertie. He’ll be sitting at a table at the Piraeus Spaceport on the northern most island. Before speaking with him, make a back up save file just in case something goes wrong.
Then, speak to him until he says, “I don’t want to tell you. I’ll get in trouble.” One of the dialogue options should then mention whatever companion you have with you. Select the dialogue choice that involves your companion. Next, just keep picking dialogue choices and eventually Bertie will give in.

Also: Find 20 Portable Phonographs, this stacks with Murder on Eridianos. I started MoE DLC first and got the achievement randomly during Peril on Gorgon main quest. I never had to find all 20 of them, guess the ones from Murder on Eridianos count as well

I guess the Peace in Our Time achievement is a bit more forgiving. Regarding @Button Eyes post:
- I kept Sanja´s review and even confronted him about it
- at the end (once I got the targeting module) I brought up the idea of siding with the iconoclasts (with Zora) while talking with Sanja
- Zanjar and I "talked" with Graham and it was settled

Great guide, but I'd like to add a correction. For "Peace in Our Time" it's not that simple. In fact, you should keep the targeting module and give it to no one. In short, the things you have to do are read and delete Sanjar's review in the ARMS building, get Zora's review from a terminal in Cascadia, and in the Iconoclast quesline, always side with Zora instead of Graham, doing her optional objectives. Then after getting the module you can persuade Zora and Sanjar to work together, unlocking the achievement.

just an FYI for the scientist on Olympia if you help him and say that you are going to gorgon he will "feel sorry" and give the science weapon freely without killing him.
