Description
Introducing the "ARGAS" Advanced Radar-Guided Anti Ship Missile, the most advanced and accurate radar guided anti-ship missile on the Workshop. Designed for medium-range surface-to-surface engagements against medium to large sized vessels.

Features:
  • Fire and Forget Capability
  • Dual-Radars for Improved Guidance
  • Advanced Flight Control Unit
  • Adjustable Phases and Attack Profiles
  • Auto and Manual Impact Altitude Modes
  • Video and Radio Data Transmit

Terminal Guidance Impact Altitude:
This setting determines whether, in the the final phase of guided flight to the target, the missile uses the radar to determine the best altitude to impact at (Auto), or uses a manually set altitude in meters.

Attack Flight Profile:
Sets the type of flight profile for the missile's intended use, see table.

Flight Profile
Use
Sea Skimming
Skims the surface of the water at minimal altitude
General
A flat trajectory with a final decent toward the target
Overland
A higher altitude cruise for clearing forests and other land obstacles
Low Arc
An arching attack profile for lobbing over mountains and islands
High Arc
A steep arching attack profile for lobbing over mountains and islands

Target Distance Mode:
Determines how early the Terminal Guidance Phase begins. Too early for a far away target may allow the missile to lock onto false positives, too late, and the missile may overshoot its target or overcorrect.

Mode
Optimal Distance
Short
250m
Medium
500m
Far
1000m
Very Far
1250m+

-------------------------
-------------------------

Additional Notes:
-Functional range of ~1.5km. Target must be visible/active for radar.
-Rough weather can create false-targets for the radar.
-Best used against medium to large vessels. Some designs, for whatever reason, will display intermittent radar signatures. If it doesn't work with one, try a different ship.
-Air-to-Surface engagement is not currently supported.

How to Use:
A basic gantry/launch vehicle has been included for your reference. Aim in general direction of target, tilt up slightly, and fire. That's it. The ARGAS flight control unit will pilot the missile on a cruise course prior to the terminal guidance phase, where the dual-radars will be used to home in on the target vessel. For best results, configure the missile's FCU microcontroller drop-down options to suit your target and scenario.

Known Limitations:
Radar in Stormworks is finicky at best. ARGAS has some measures in place to smooth its targeting and try and maintain a lock on the target, but limitations still remain. For example, crates are always detected very strongly, and so the missile will home in on them if they're near a target. There are means around that, but not for the ARGAS. Just be aware of its limitations to use it effectively.

Feel free to use in your creations, I just ask that you credit my design by adding a link to it on your workshop post. Cheers :)

maybe try and put this on a massive sub then u can launch it under water great missle by the way its hits the target very good but sometimes it dives under the ship

Click on the microcontroller in the vehicle editor and it'll show settings.
