The East Kent Coalfields & it's railways re-imagined

The East Kent Coalfields & it's railways draws its inspiration from real world routes. Some of these lines remain in operation today, but some have long been disused and very little remains to be seen.

The East Kent Light Railway itself was built to serve the Kent Coalfields and although many spurs and branches were proposed, not all were built. The remaining small section of line between Shepherdswell and Eythorne is now operated by a heritage company.


This Route is set in the mid 80's imagining what could have become of the line, had the coalfields been slightly more successful. Only sections of line that were actually built have been reproduced, but some allowances have been made where new roads and other infrastructure have blocked the route of the line.

The route runs a mixture of freight services (mostly coal) & heritage services on the EKLR branch line section. The rest of the route runs main line traffic which mostly consists of commuter & goods traffic going from or to London or Dover.

Route Length: 11.4 miles(18.9 Including Guilford Colliery branch & Eastry to Richborough Port) Also includes 6.13 miles Adisham to Lydden & 4.82 miles Minster to Sandwich SECR main line.

Total network length: 29.85 miles.

The coal loaders at Snowdown and Tilmanstone have different spacing's. One type is for 16t wagons, the other wider spacing is for HAA's. The same applies for the two unloading lanes at Richborough.
There are variations in the types of signalling used, for instance between Sandwich road and Richborough Castle. Placing AI traffic between different signal types may cause issues.


This is a very detailed route and I would recommend using the 64bit version of Train Simulator to run this.

You may notice extra scenery or liveries in my screenshots which you do not see in game. These are taken from my "development" version of the route, are custom made by myself and are currently a work in progress. I do plan to release some of these things in the future but have not yet decided how to go about this.
