Here's some useful tips for this mission as well:
- You don't need to hunt down all the submarines to finish the mission. Only most of the enemy structures is enough (main base to the north, the outpost with the barracks and the helipad island).
- You don't need to concern yourself with building a huge fleet early on. Focus on repelling the attacks. The attacks eventually end.
- The two power plants across the bridge are intended as a natural expansion and are not very well defended so it's a good idea to go for it as soon as you can. If you can capture the power plant(s) you can more easily take advantage of the nearby ore field as well as not be as concerned about the bridge being destroyed. If it does get destroyed you can get some units and engineers across with LST's.
- Mechanics are very cost effective for repairing your vehicles.
Thank you for the feedback and for playing my mission! I have heard similar criticisms for this mission and have made a few changes to make it less challenging (especially considering it's such an early mission).
- Starting money increased from 8000 to 10000
- A little bit more resources to go around, including an extra mine at the ore field beyond the bridge
- Decreased number of subs
- Sonar pulse is recurring (after building Radar Dome)
- Bridge strength increased by 50%
- Added reveal trigger so the middle helipad island is exposed when entering the main base
(you will probably need to delete and re-download the mission to get the changes)
- It is a bit annoying to hunt down all the submarines, especially since a destroyer is almost inferior to a single submarine on hard difficulty. Maybe remove a few or at least a few ice floes so it gets easier to navigate with the ships?
- Ressources are extremly limited when you're trying to build a huge fleet and also enough base defence to repel the constant attacks from all sides. Maybe add another field of diamonds or reduce the amount of assault waves?
- The large bridge leading to the enemy base is rather pointless. It is dangerous to leave it intact because of the tanks coming down and using it to attack the base is also no real option because the chance of not destroying the bridge while trying to cross it is almost zero.
I can confirm that when using the veterancy mod the reinforcements are blocked from entering the map. With the mod disabled it does work fine however. I can only come to the conclusion that something with the mod messes with the pathfinding in some way which causes this problem. I've tried to change the waypoints from which the transports enter but it didn't help. I can only suggest playing the mission without mods enabled (I do have CCHypers extra zoom mod enabled and it works fine).
