Traditional (RotS) Samurai for Sengoku Campaign

Description
This mod is included in Shogun 2 Enhanced - Units Module.

This mod adds Foot Samurai and Mounted Samurai units from Rise of the Shogun DLC to Sengoku Jidai (default) campaign. Both units are recruited through the Fort line, unit stats are balanced to fit better into Sengoku: Foot Samurai are worse archers than Bow Samurai and have less men, but sligtly better in melee, they will decimate Bow Ashigaru and also Yari Ashigaru in melee. Mounted Samurai are worse than Bow Cavalry and weak against Light Cavalry, but provide an early option without requiring stables. Both units have less ammo then their counterparts. The AI will also recruit this units.

While the aim is to diversify the early game, this is also more in line with how samurai fought in Sengoku period, where armies transitioned from samurai-based to ashigaru-based, the game has this in reverse. In this version of the mod, units are capped to one per province while each clan also has an innate +1 cap, i.e. a one province clan will be able to recruit 2 Foot Samurai and 2 Mounted Samurai, while a 2 province clan can recruit 3 of each. This is done to preserve the vanilla balance, it also fits in with my Dynamic Unit Caps mod which I'll upload soon.

-Update: Added units now use yari rather than swords for 1000% historical authenticity. Also helps to better differentiate them from Bow Samurai units.

this is a good mod, and i like that you separated all of your shogun 2 enhanced packs so we can pick and choose which ones to use. thanks

This mod really improved my last vanilla campaign since I am a huge fan of ROTS units and especially their o-yoroi armor. They add a nice touch to gameplay and the fact you can recruit them right outa the gate is terrific. :steamhappy:

Thanks for the feedback. The mod actually doesn't make any changes about those, but still there was a cleaner way of editing the text files. Updated the mod, hopefully it'll fix that.

mod seems to mess up the position of the info box for the settlement chain. Other buildings are fine

I'm planning to replace Samurai Retainers with Foot Samurai Garrison and also add more clan variants for units, so for example Date samurai would have better charge (like No-dachi) and Shimazu would have better melee attack etc. That's too much work for something that can disturb the balance, so currently there are only Chosokabe, Hattori and Takeda variants, oh also Ikko Ikko recruits Ronin instead. Other than that, the mod is pretty much complete, I may alter the unit stats a bit depending on feedback.
