BPM - 100% Achievement Guide
Por JerichoDukes
Most of the achievements in BPM are straightforward, but I thought it might help to list some tips/tricks for the harder ones.

Keep in mind that beating the game on hard difficulty will unlock the easy difficulty achievement (and ability) for each character. I personally didn't find hard mode much worse than easy mode, so if you're looking to save time you could play on hard only. However, if you're looking to learn the game, stretch out the length of it, or struggling with a character's mechanics I would recommend playing on easy first. Once you've unlocked their starting secondary ability you may find them easier for your hard mode runs!

Asgard
Completed Asgard.

Vanaheim
Completed Vanaheim.

Svartalfheim
Completed Svartalfheim.

Helheim
Completed Helheim.

Defeated Nidhogg
Defeat Nidhogg on any difficult with any Valkyrie.

Walking through the portals on Asgard II, Vanaheim II, Svartalfheim II, and Helheim II, will get you each respective achievement. Walking through the portal on Helheim I will get you the Helheim achievement. Once credits roll you'll unlock the Nidhogg achievement.
Göll
Göll Ascending
Defeated Nidhogg with Göll on easy.

Göll - Of War
Complete the game on hard as Göll.

Göll is your basic starting character. Use your time playing her to learn items, enemy attack patterns, etc. Her secondary ability is a fireball that deals damage over time to whoever it hits. It can be really useful against shield enemies, or enemies with weak points on their back.
Freyr
Freyr Ascending
Defeated Nidhogg with Freyr on easy.

Freyr - Ruler of Peace
Complete the game on hard as Freyr.

Freyr is the second character you will unlock. He starts with a great magnum, but 150 shield health. The easiest way to get around this is to get a shield converter, which will instantly convert all shield health into permanent health. It's possible to get this on the first floor in Huggin's shop for 7 coins. His secondary ability is block, which can help you maintain your early shield health.
Hildr
Hildr Ascending
Defeated Nidhogg with Hildr on easy.

Hildr - Of Battle
Complete the game on hard as Hildr.

Hildr is the third character. She starts with 50 regular health, 25 shield, 5 speed, a key, and the four clip shotgun pistol. I prioritized getting more health with her as soon as possible, but I don't feel like there's a key strategy you need to win with her. Her secondary ability is the same fireball as Göll.
Njord
Njord Ascending
Defeated Nidhogg with Njord on easy.

Njord - Ruler of the Sea
Complete the game on hard as Njord.

Njord is the fourth character, who starts with 50 health and his unique magic weapon. You can't change his weapon at any point, so I prioritized getting my stats up as quickly as possible with him. Items that synergize well with Njord would be Quarternote (double shots), Face of Death (double damage), and Giant Slayer's Boots (% damage) for bosses.

Njord's secondary ability is Valkyrie's Veil, which gives you a free hit after killing a few enemies. This can massively help with your survivability!
Odr
Odr Ascending
Defeated Nidhogg with Odr on easy.

Odr - The Frenzy
Complete the game on hard as Odr.

Odr is the final character you will unlock. He starts with unlimited flight, but dies in one hit and has the double barrel shotgun for his starting weapon. I would argue that the double barrel is the worst starting weapon, especially on Odr, as its base range is tiny. I would recommend prioritizing getting a new weapon for this reason. The longer the range, the better, as you'll be able to hit enemies from higher up.

Odr massively benefits from getting the Valkyrie's Veil ability for survivability, or the Lion Heart item for one free hit. Otherwise, your main form of defense is using your flight as effectively as possible. If you prioritize killing enemies with ranged attacks early you can trivialize a lot of rooms and bosses by constantly staying in the air. Make sure you're using your flight to ensure that you search every room for high up secrets. If you're lucky, this will be a great way to rack up early stats.

Offensive items that can be useful for Odr include (thanks for the recommendations Rostan):
  • Snap Fingers (Celestial Drumroll) - Damages all enemies on the screen and can melt bosses
  • Celestial Wave (Damage All Enemies) - Secondary ability that hits all enemies in the room - can clear small enemies easily
  • Rhythmic Chaos Boots (Strike to the Beat) - Attacks random enemy each beat, so you can focus on dodging

My final tip for Odr is to only play him on hard. Odr will always be a difficult character, with or without his teleport secondary ability.
Skuld
Skuld Ascending
Defeated Nidhogg with Skuld on easy.

Skuld - The Debtor
Complete the game on hard as Skuld.

Skuld starts with 150hp, but loses HP constantly. However, you get HP back whenever you shoot an enemy. HP gained increases with how many projectiles hit the enemy, making shotguns and the Quarternote items useful.

Skuld starts with a very powerful weapon (Garand), making quick room clears easy early in the run. The key to a successful run with Skuld is speed. Speed ups, sprinting, and minimal backtracking are all good things to keep in mind. The vamp health headpiece (Circlet of the Serpentine) also helps keep your health topped off, although your built in effect is stronger in my opinion is a nerf to your health regen, avoid it picking it up on Skuld. Thanks Han and xenira for the input!

Cursed Iron (DMG up, convert all HP to shields) could be very useful. Once all her HP is converted to shields, she stops losing health (since you only have shields). You no longer have health to vamp and only way to heal is pick up shields and HP ups, but at least you're not dying over time anymore. Thanks Death Wish for the tip!
Geri
Geri Ascecnding
Defeated Nidhogg with Geri on easy.

Geri - Odin's Hound
Complete the game on hard as Geri.

Geri starts with the pistol, 25hp, and a much lower camera than the other characters. Geri comes with the big bonus of having a guaranteed bank on each floor (until Helheim). This makes it very easy to buy out any first floor shops if you see any max HP ups or better weapons.
Herfjötur
Herfjötur Ascending
Defeated Nidhogg with Herfjötur on easy.

Herfjötur - The Fetter
Complete the game on hard as Herfjötur.

Herfjötur starts with the bolt-action rifle and three coins. Herfjötur uses his coins as HP, and whenever you take damage you lose half of your coins (rounded down if odd). It's possible to kill yourself by spending too much, so make sure to keep track of your coins in shops. Damocles' sword coin bags add to your total health, and then you lose half. This means that it's only worth grabbing them at lower coin totals.

Make sure to use the bolt-action rifle's high base range to avoid damage as much as possible. Consider spending coins anytime you're in the double digits to avoid losing large chunks of money at once. If you can get the ultimate that creates coins or pull coins from the bank you have close to unlimited health!
Rún
Rún Ascending
Defeated Nidhogg with Rún on easy.

Rún - TheMystery
Complete the game on hard as Rún.

Rún starts the game with a random weapon, item, and health total. You can even start with high-tier weapons that aren't available in the armory. If you don't like what you start with you're able to instantly restart and get different loadouts. The amount of benefits he starts with makes him one of the easier characters to win with.
Sanngriðr
SanngriðrAscending
Defeated Nidhogg with Sanngriðr. Well done!

Sanngriðr - The Cruel
Complete the game on hard as Sanngriðr. Impressive.

GrasluTheFirst
Completed Sanngriðr on Hellish.

Sanngriðr is your reward for beating the game with Odr, and she is a much harder character. She starts with the pistol, no flight, is a one-hit kill, has no permanent starting spells you can unlock, and must clear every enemy filled room (other than challenge rooms) to unlock the boss door for the floor. On top of all this, she is also the only character to have an achievement for finishing the Hellish difficulty.

The same items that are helpful on Odr will benefit Sanngriðr. Additionally, if you can get one of the permanent flight items, you'll have a much higher chance of surviving. Good luck!
Mastery
Mastery
Completed the game on hard with every Valkyrie.

See each character's section for individual tips.
Multiplier
Multiplier
Get a score of over 700,000.

This achievement will pop the second you get a score of 700,000. There are two main factors to consider when going for a high score:
  • Multiplier - Consecutive attacks to the beat will increase your multiplier (up to x4). Any attack, reload, or ability off the beat will reset your multiplier to x1. Getting hit will also reset your multiplier. You need to keep this multiplier maxed out as much as possible.
  • Time - You'll notice that you lose points with each beat. As your run continues the points will increase, to hundreds per second. For this reason you want to backtrack as little as possible.
Here are a few things I found useful when going for high scores:
  • Using infinite ammo weapons will help you maintain your streak, as you won't have to think about switching weapons
  • Having the Valkyrie's Veil ability will prevent your streak from being reset if you get hit once in a while.
Due to these two tips, I'd recommend going for high scores on Njord once you've beaten the game on easy with him.

Keep in mind that if you use a character other than Njord you should try to avoid using the gatling gun, as it won't raise your score like other weapons.

All the altar effects are listed on this page: https://bulletsperminute.wiki/view/Altars

I'm guessing you're referring to the angel altar?

Thanks for confirming the health vamp mechanic Han, I'll update the guide. Glad to hear you're enjoying Odr, he's definitely rewarding to play and much more fun than Sanngriðr in my opinion. Good luck!

And 2 more since I'm cool like that:

Not sure if it's a glitch or an intended mechanic, but if you strafe sideways while using W (Kinda like bhop / surf in Source games), you can technically gain infinite speed. Lets you move through rooms really quickly if you know what you're doing.

Also, Odr's flight works in 2 different ways: You have infinite jumps, but if you also hold down spacebar, you're able to hover midair on the same level as when you held it down. It takes some getting used to, but it's quite consistent. Helps with spacing you outside of melee enemies easily.

Starting SG+Clip Up+ Giant Slayer Boots+DeathWish = bosses down in 2-3 shots tops.

I would classify odr's playstyle as a glass cannon more than anything. He is devastating if played correctly, although you can see that the downside of being 1 hit kill is there either way.

Kill flies.

One day I'll beat odr B)

I can also weigh in on Odr;

His starting weapon I found to be the most pleasant out of all of them, to argue your side.

Sure, it's difficult to get up close and personal, however, it can deal massive damage if you're in the sweet spot.

It deals about 1/6 of Draugr's health w/o any upgrades / items, and is able to 1shot most enemies if you know how to position yourself.

Another tip for Odr as well is to clear the flying / projectile enemies first, as you can time it since every enemy attacks on the beat, and most flying enemies take 2 full beats (4 with halfbeats) to attack, so it's easy to get up close, dodge and shoot.

Hey! I can confirm that circlet of serpentine lowers Skuld's health vamp, it's tested through multiple wiki sources & my own experience.

Circlet of the Serpentine heals 1-3 damage per hit, affected by Gunnr's bracelet.
Skuld's Vamp heals 5 hp guaranteed each hit.

Serpentine replaces Skuld's healing completely, as well.

Unsure if it stacks using Ogre Helm / Shotgun weapons, although it's likely as those stack with GSB as well.

@xenire - Got it, thanks for the source! I've never used that wiki before and wrote this guide based on my experience with each character, so I'm a bit skeptical on how this works. I'm going to add a note that it may work differently and wait and see if anyone weighs in. Thank again!

@PaulFunyun Got my information from here: https://bulletsperminute.wiki/view/Characters#Skuld . Did not actually test if there is an actual difference though.
JerichoDukes  [autor] 16 jul. 2021 às 5:07
@xenira - Are you certain? I don't see any patches since I last played and I definitely used that item to stay topped off in previous runs.
ripπ 15 jul. 2021 às 17:07
Correction on Skuld: Circlet of the Serpentine replaces your base live steal with a weaker effect, so you should not get this item.
