This mod crashes on the DLC after the recent update (Mine The Gap Update)

atomic composition is close to correct for rust, but as the game goes by weight, proportions should be different.
Iron Fe 55.845 2 69.9426
Oxygen O 15.9994 3 30.0574
So by weight we should get 69.95kg of iron, 30.06 KG of oxygen out of this recipe.

Rust can make air for a lot of dupes right now (not that I mind though)

No. It basically is filler. Petrolium is a better coolent, Mercury is too heavy and will break some tiles, and it is too dense to form a liquid lock.

does the mercury have any use as a coolant, a heavy liquid, or a dense liquid?

I need to tink about using mercury.

Yeah, but unless you can use the mercury, then there is no point. Maybe use it in other another recipie, Like get enough to make some wolframite?
