Sparring Partners (Training)

Description
Sparring Partners is a mod to allow your characters to spar with each other to increase their skills or even see who's better.

Does not require Import.

This works on any of your own characters with lore friendly custom dialogue.

Character states like blocking and passive are remembered by the sparring partner.

Prepare for sparring by being in a clear area with non lethal weapons because the battle is real and life n limb can be lost.


Instructions

1. SAVE BEFORE DISMISSING A CHARACTER IS RECOMMENDED.
2. Set the characters states. (Blocking, passive)
3. Dismiss the character.
4. Talk to the character and choose sparing and how long.
(1 hour for recruits and 5 hours for recruits vs blocking gods.
Battle mode will make them defend their allies for group battle)
5. After the time has elapsed then the character will join the current squad.

DO NOT ATTACK UNPROVOKED OR THE FACTION WILL GO HOSTILE.


BUGS/ISSUES

1. When you dismiss a character their faction is tech hunters so don't spar near other tech hunters otherwise you will have more sparing partners then you intended

2. If the character is unconscious when their spar timer runs out they will not return to squad. If this is the case talk to them and tell them to rejoin squad or heal them

3. If you defeat a character in combat they might lie there playing dead. Heal them and they will return to squad.
Or add them to the new CageOfShame and recruit them from there

4. They are hostile and defenses/others will engage them. Best to build a little arena or be away from defenses with a medic on standby

5. Some other mod's do not correctly set their Player Dialogue's correctly and wont get or always have the sparing dialogue.

I see. It has since worked perfectly, I believe I knocked my sparring partners out too quickly and thereby missed the rejoining event. Works great.:steamthumbsup:

They are hardcoded to Tech Hunters when dismissed and as far as the Ai is concerned they are hostile so anyone not set to passive will come running, best to set everyone involved in the sparring to passive and do it away from bases and harpoons.

They should be remembering the block settings unless something has changed

The way it should work is when they are dismissed and you select sparring it "hires" them like a merc for X time after the time is up if they can still talk then it fires the next event which makes them join the group.

If they are knocked out they don't get the event or some other mods might be interfering with it.
If you are running other mods you could try putting Sparring Partners lower in the mod order.

I'm not sure if I'm using this right. Whenever I dismiss a squad member in order to spar and select the sparring option (incorrectly spelled as "sparing") nothing happens until I click on the dismissed squad member with a red arrow, at which point they just aggro as if they were an enemy. I had mine set to block but they don't block, and the entire base rushes in to join the fight. They don't automatically rejoin either, I have to incapacitate/imprison them in order to trigger dialogue that allows them to rejoin.

its hard to over look it. when you need to go buy 5metalplate for one cage, there is an option just for free? nooo nooo it cant be over look

big problem that kill any immersion that i have in kenshi. that was free building with no cost (CageofShame), making all material i collected completeling useless! i can' t say this enough. it make completely useless to play all together for exploration content:steamthumbsdown::steamthumbsdown::steamthumbsdown:. I highly don't recommend to any player new and return alike

its a simple cage to allow sparring partners that were knocked unconscious (missed their dialogue trigger) to be recruited back.
It was added and made free in case the player does not have the research or materials to construct a cage.

It's a cage? If you don't want to use a free cage then don't build it?

I advise saving first. You need to dismiss the characters first, done in the party menu bottom right (they will become tech hunters)
Then if they are unmodded or inherent the base dialogue packages then you can talk to them and begin sparing. i would also advise using weaker weapons so they don't hack limbs off.
