Description
WEAPON BIO:

"The Patriot was a modified version of the XM16E1, with a shortened barrel and the stock removed. It was designed in order to create a carbine that combined the feel and quick handling of a handgun with the force of a rifle. The relatively light weight meant that the Patriot had a strong recoil, and was notoriously difficult to aim. The fact that The Boss used it one-handed was a testament to her skill.

The Patriot used 5.56x45mm ammunition and was fitted with a hundred-round drum magazine, with the internal feed mechanism shaped like an infinity symbol (∞). The blast of the muzzle was said to resemble the sound of a threatened rattlesnake, and that no one who heard the sound would live to tell the tale. The bullets didn't leave the gun straight; they flip and twist upon leaving the gun."

-------------------------------------------------

FEATURES:

-The Boss' signature assault rifle, The Patriot.

True to how it appears in the MGS series, the gun comes with infinite ammo right out of the box, at the cost of reduced aim and shorter range due to it's unwieldy nature.

To offset the aim and range penalties, it also comes with a buff to it's crit chance and crit damage. Build it for crits and use it on a class that gives bonuses to crit chance and/or crit damage for greater effect.

You could also use a Scope instead to offset the aim penalty, which would be good for a Gunner-esque class.

It comes with an extra Ranger variant which is classified as a Shotgun, to support classes that exclusively use Shotguns.

It's also recommended you use Better Repeaters to get the most out of the gun's stats.

Comes with it's own firing sounds.

The gun's stats can be changed in the config files.

-------------------------------------------------

STATS:

Sorted in order of T1, T2, and T3.

DAMAGE: 3-5, 5-7, 7-9

CRIT DAMAGE: 3, 4, 5

CRIT CHANCE: +30%

AIM: -15%

RANGE: Short range (Try to remember the basics of CQC)

CLIP SIZE: ∞

It comes with an edited range table: Starting from Tile 10, you get +7% Aim for each tile you get closer to an enemy, up to +70% Aim at point blank, but it starts to fall off at 11 tiles, and starting from the 12th tile, you'll have your Aim lowered by -3% for each tile you get further away from an enemy.

If you feel like any of these numbers could use adjusting, let me know.

-------------------------------------------------

KNOWN ISSUES:

-The Soldier's left hand floats just slightly under the hand guard.

If the gun doesn't show up mid-campaign, you likely need to start a new campaign.

Tell me if you find any more, i'll see if i can do something about it.

No, there won't be a Vanilla version of this.

-------------------------------------------------

CHANGELOG:

VERSION 1.01 (12/21/2020)

-Fixed the weapon not upgrading properly

-Fixed the CreateTemplate functions sharing the same names as the Weapon Templates themselves, for example: the Function would be 'static function X2DataTemplate CreateTemplate_WeaponName_CV()' and then the Template would also be 'WeaponName_CV'. While i don't think this caused any issues (at least none that i've seen), i still cleaned up that aspect of the code to be sure. Apologies in advance if this causes any issues in your on-going campaign.

-Adjusted the range tables a bit; Starting from Tile 10, you get +7% Aim for each tile you get closer to an enemy, up to +70% Aim at point blank, but it starts to fall off at 11 tiles, and starting from the 12th tile, you'll have your Aim lowered by -3% for each tile you get further away from an enemy.

I'm glad it still works for you, but I never got it to show up. Maybe a fresh install in the future will help.

Is there any confirmation that this still works? I've tried starting a new game and it still won't appear for me.

Stick a pistol brace on it and it's good to go!

"Signit: Where'd you get it?
Big Boss: Hmm?
Signit: I said where'd get it?
Big Boss: Sigint, Don't get worked up over details"

More Metal Gear stuff is always appreciated. I was looking through the SFM for a model of the MGS4 Railgun though I never checked if the old decompiler worked.

Hm I feel like I'm gonna haft to favorite this weapon for a potential modern military xcom playthrough. Gonna put this thing on a heavy overwatch/suppression skill rpgo character for sure.
