Description
A collection of Great Northern and Northern Pacific liveries, from the early 1910s to the two roads' merger into Burlington Northern in 1970. Glacier Park Green, Omaha Orange, Big Sky Blue, it's all here!

For more Pacific Northwest stuff, check out microcosmologist's Northern Pacific/Milwaukee Road pack here ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2070567245 ), and the Evergreen Pacific & Eastern, my 1920s Washington-themed series from the fantasy livery jam ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2136644621 )

If you use these in a layout/video/what-have-you...cool! Just give me a bit of credit in the description or link back here so more people can enjoy them! And speaking of enjoying, feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Based on Great Northern No. 1355, built as a 4-6-0 in 1909, rebuilt as a 4-6-2 in 1924, and currently displayed at the Milwaukee Road Shops Historic District in Sioux City, Iowa. I've got a few more Pacific Northwest liveries (mostly Great Northern and Nor...

Northern Pacific Flyer
Created by Dark Derby
In the comments on my Great Northern Flyer awhile back, I mentioned I had a Northern Pacific livery in the works. Here it is! Not quite as colorful as the Great Northern, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I live in former NP territory, and I've ac...

Great Northern Berkshire
Created by Dark Derby
First “real” livery I’ve done in a while, here’s the Great Northern Berkshire! Fun fact: the Great Northern never owned any Berkshires. The lettering and numbering instead match an S-2, a class of 4-8-4 Northern the railroad used from 1930 to 1958. One of ...

Great Northern No. 400 "Hustle Muscle"

The first production EMD SD45, “Hustle Muscle” was delivered to the Great Northern in 1966. Twenty-six more SD45s followed it by 1968. In 1970, HM was renumbered 6430 during the Burlington Northern merger, though it kept its Great Northern colors until 197...

Great Northern Side Rod

Introducing the Great Northern Side-Rod, a perfect choice for your electric line! The real Great Northern 5017 was a Y-1 electric boxcab, used on the GN’s electrified route between Wenatchee and Skykomish. After a 1945 wreck in Tonga, Washington, one of th...
Great Northern No. 51
Created by Dark Derby
A simple Great Northern livery for the center-cab switcher, seeing how it looks close enough to a General Electric 44-ton and my Pacific Northwest-themed layout-in-progress needed one. This was my first diesel livery, and the old one was surprisingly trick...
Northern Pacific Pullman
Created by Dark Derby
The next piece in my Pacific Northwest series, a Northern Pacific Pullman coach. This is a livery I knew right off the bat I wanted to make in RL. That two-tone green always looked just...right. If there's interest I might make a couple of variants with un...
Northern Pacific Observation Car
Created by Dark Derby
A matching observation car to go with the Northern Pacific coach in my collection. It's lettered for the North Coast Limited, the NP's premier passenger train for exactly 71 years and one day--April 29, 1900 to April 30, 1971. The Limited connected Chicago...

Northern Pacific F7 (Freight Livery)
Created by Dark Derby
The "Pine Tree" freight livery the Northern Pacific used for their F-series diesels from the 1950s on. A 1956-built F9 wearing this livery, No. 7012A, is preserved at the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad. Surprisingly, the trickiest part to get right was the ...
Northern Pacific F7B (Freight Livery)
Created by Dark Derby
The B unit for my Northern Pacific freight F7. If the "Main Street of the Northwest" lettering looks a little wonky, it's because I redrew it in Illustrator by hand. Credit where credit is due, I traced it from the texture for Microcosmologist's passenger ...
