New PoP safe combination guide (english & spanish)
Prophesy of Pendor's safe combinations. Check it here.
26/04/2015 AÑADIDA GUÍA EN ESPAÑOL
(English) "Safe" combinations of companions
The info in this guide have been taken from http://mountandblade.wikia.com

I made this guide just to have this info at hand without minimizing the game; enjoy if you didn't know about companion's conflicts.

In Warband there are up to sixteen heroes which can be recruited to fight by your side. However, some of them do not get along that well; some of their personalities conflict.

But don't panic, up to eight heroes can be recruited without conflicts; we could say that there are two "loops of conflict", one with two "five heroes" branches and other with two "three heroes" branches, and you can combine any group of five with any other of three:

Groups of five:

A) Artimenner, Borcha, Matheld, Lezalit and Rolf.
B) Bunduk, Deshavi, Klethi, Jeremus and Ymira.

Groups of three:

C) Alayen, Baheshtur and Firentis.
D) Katrin, Marnid and Nizar.

As said before, you can use A+C, A+D, B+C or B+D without conflicts, because most of those combinations enjoy being together.

Clear water and easy laughs in your travels!

EDIT (26/11/2014):
added the "dislike" list of emissaries, thanks to chi.blood6.
(Every companion dislikes a particular hero being an emissary)

Alayen dislikes Baheshtur as emissary
Artimenner dislikes Katrin as emissary
Baheshtur dislikes Ymira as emissary
Borcha dislikes Alayen as emissary
Bunduk dislikes Nizar as emissary
Deshavi dislikes Bunduk as emissary
Firentis dislikes Rolf as emissary
Jeremus dislikes Klethi as emissary
Katrin dislikes Lezalit as emissary
Klethi dislikes Marnid as emissary
Lezalit dislikes Borcha as emissary
Marnid dislikes Matheld as emissary
Matheld dislikes Firentis as emissary
Nizar dislikes Jeremus as emissary
Rolf dislikes Artimenner as emissary
Ymira dislikes Deshavi as emissary

Bear in mind that this "dislike" list doesn't affect to your "safe combinations", since this won't make any of your companions to leave the group, where combining conflicting people could.

EDIT (26/04/2015):
In response to Mr. Dutch, companions' "safe combinations" for Viking Conquest added

This info was gathered though several sources from the internet; please, bear in mind that it might not be accurate.

Groups of five:

A) Agathinos, Caio, Reginhard, Ailchu and Donnchadh.
B) Ceawlin, Dwywei, Beda, Asbjorn and Brunhild.

Groups of three:

C) Clovis, Morgant and Bodo.
D) Solveig, Egil and Helgi.

Enjoy.

EDIT (26/06/2016):
In response to VirazolKaine , "companions who don't like pillaging villages" added

Some heroes may get angry and even leave the group in certain situations; hunger, not being paid or having heavy casualties are just some of them.

To me it's not really important specifying wich ones dislikes these, because those are things you should avoid anyway, BUT there are some that hate robbing villages, and this is important, because if you plan to play this role, these heroes will most probably leave your group. Bear in mind these heroes if you plan to raid villages:

Companions who DON'T LIKE Robbing Villages:

Bunduk, Jeremus, Ymira, Firentis & Marnid

A) Artimenner, Borcha, Matheld, Lezalit y Rolf.
B) Bunduk, Deshavi, Klethi, Jeremus e Ymira.

Grupos de tres:

C) Alayen, Baheshtur y Firentis.
D) Katrin, Marnid y Nizar.

A) Agathinos, Caio, Reginhard, Ailchu y Donnchadh.
B) Ceawlin, Dwywei, Beda, Asbjorn y Brunhild.

Grupos de tres:

C) Clovis, Morgant y Bodo.
D) Solveig, Egil y Helgi.

Disfrutadla.

EDIT (26/06/2016):

Bunduk, Jeremus, Ymira, Firentis & Marnid

I made a separate guide for Crusader - Deus Vult based on this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/502626719/1708438376923822969/

Group A seems like the best (B has a few of the annoying ones that don't like attacking villages but A has none).
A also has 3 that can be used as emissaries without issue and a few nobles that you can safely assign to fiefs.
Came here because of Bunduk; he's a good fighter with a 2H sword but will still be glad to see him go..:steamsalty:

Thanks again for the guide! :KneelingBow:

For Viking Conquest I have found that groups are only compatible as A+D and B+C if you're maximizing companions. (I like to put them on the front line full of missile weapons to obliterate enemy charges.) The ADs are the scoundrels, and the BCs are the happy friendly types for purposes of actions and consequences.

I can confirm, and everybody else; as said, I gathered this info from several websites, and of course, my personal exp. A & B do not well eachother, and so C & D, so A+C, A+D, B+c & B+D are safe.

Nevertheless, doing emissary missions is affected by other calculations, but doing only that shouldn't make any hero to leave your company. There are combinations, bigger ones, that allow you to use more heroes, but you'll have conflicts and thus the moral-game becomes a must, but with these groups you won't have any conflict at all (they all are either neutral or love someone in those groups)

Been a while since I played so I'm starting a new game and this is such a handy easy to follow reference. Thanks!
