Description
Welcome to BIG Parking Lots!

Please read this! This is very experimental and is more a trial than a finished solution! But I need Feedback for this!!!

One of the most critisized things on BIG Parking Lots is the width of the parking lots. I know 24m is a bit wide but I wanted to stick to the concept of having the parking lots plopped to the grid. As the road editor offers a minimum zoning width of 16m (just like the 2 lane road) you need a distance of 3 units/24m between roads to have a 1 cell grid. I know Network Extensions has tiny roads with a zoning width of 8m but I couldn’t get in contact with that team so far to clear the feasability of filler roads with a 8m (for 2 units/16m parking) and 12m (for 2.5 units/20m parking) zoning grids. So far the history.

Did you know that Filler roads can be placed parallel to each other with a distance less than 3 unit (24m)? They blend nicely into each other without glitches or z-fighting. So with Move it you can already realize more narrow parking with the given Filler road. But I want to show you a way how to get a 16m and a 20m grid. I hope I will finish a YouTube video for this in the next few weeks.

16m Parking
This is a bit easier because you can use the common parking spaces. Just place Tiny Road from Networks Extensions 2 parallel to each other with a distance of 2 units. Now plop the Parking Spaces to the grid. Now you can upgrade the Tiny Roads to the Filler Road and you have 16m Parking. Watch out at intersections with Borders. There the grid can be messed up. Better place the border road after you placed the parking lots.
In my opinion 16m parking is a bit too narrow for a 2 Lane Filler road. I will release one way filler roads (and angled parking lots) next week that will look better.

20m Parking
In my opinion this is the ideal distance for a 2 Lane Filler road and straight parking lots. But without a 12m zoning grid you need different parking spaces for this. A 3x2 parking space is the only asset in that you can susbribe to here. Please try it out how this works for you. If there is demand I will add more of this kind. For 20m parking you need a 2.5 units grid. You can realize that by placing filler roads (or any other small road) 5 units parallel to each other (so that a 3 cell grid appears between them). Now place a Tiny Road from Network Extensions 2 right in the middle of this grid (grid snapping must be activated). Now you uprade the Filler roads to tiny roads (so you only have tiny roads). Now you can plop the 20m Parking Spaces (and only these) to the tiny roads (it doesn’t matter on which side of the road they snap). After that you upgrade them all to Filler roads. I have an example picture of this in the heading.

I hope this release will lead to a vibrant discussion. I know this is not the best solution but until there will be the possibility to build roads with smaller grids this is the best solution.

Ich nutze deine Parkplatzstraßen in absolut jeder Stadt! Ich fände engere Parkplätze wirklich klasse!

If you do perfect "narrow" parking lanes, I think a really nice asset to go along with it would be "slanted" ploppable parking blocks. that would be a HUGE addition to many cities!

Zoning Adjuster + any of the tiny roads from Vanilla++ should also work instead of Network Extensions.
Just remember to hold Shift when placing the tiny road, so the grid doesn't end up offset by haltff a square.

Sounds like a great solution. I will test it and send feedback :)
