Beholder for Game Master Mode

Description
Any issues/bugs please let me know, and I'll fix them as soon as I can! Suggestions welcome.

Beholder Mod Details

Adds a Beholder for use in the game master mode! It's located under Monsters -> Abominations in the characters tab.

There are also additional Beholder types: The Eye of Flame, Eye of Frost, a Shadow Beholder and a variant regular Beholder.

In the files and the mod list on the main menu this mod is listed as "B_Creature". This is intentional so that if this mod is automatically downloaded to a player's game as part of a Game Master campaign, viewing their mod list or game files will not reveal spoilers to the players about the fact the campaign contains a Beholder.

Beholder:

The Beholder has the ability to melee attack with it's teeth, and has enough AP to cast 6 eye rays per turn along with it's antimagic eye ability.

It possesses the following skills:

  • Eye of the Beholder: Prevents anyone in the cone from casting spells for a turn. Also protects anyone in the cone from the Beholder's attacks.
  • Enervation Ray: Deals poison damage and sets decay.
  • Paralyzing Ray: Stuns characters.
  • Slowing Ray: Slows and shocks characters.
  • Charm Ray: Charms characters.
  • Fear Ray: Terrifies characters.
  • Sleep Ray: Puts characters to sleep.
  • Petrifying Ray: Petrifies characters.
  • Death Ray: Deals cold damage, instantly kills if the character's health is below 30%.
  • Disintegration Ray: Deals piercing damage by disintegrating both physical and magical armour, removing some of each.
  • Telekinetic Ray: Move a target from one location to another.
  • Astral Warp: The Beholder teleports itself to another location.

Eye Of Frost:

The Eye of Frost has the ability to melee attack with it's teeth, and has enough AP to cast 6 eye rays per turn along with it's freezing main eye ability.

It possesses the following skills:

  • Eye of the Beholder: Sets chilled and bleak on characters in the Beholder's gaze, reducing their water resistance. Any surfaces in the gaze are frozen.
  • Ice Ray: Deals water damage and sets chilled. 1/3
  • Ice Ray: Deals water damage and sets chilled. 2/3
  • Ice Ray: Deals water damage and sets chilled. 3/3
  • Source Ray: The Beholder steals a source point from the target to prevent them from using it, or to use it themselves if you give them a source spell (arcane stitch is my personal favourite so they have some sustain).
  • Enervation Ray: Deals poison damage and sets decay.
  • Paralyzing Ray: Stuns characters.
  • Slowing Ray: Slows and shocks characters.
  • Life Draining Ray: Deals piercing damage to the target, and heals the Beholder for the damage dealt.
  • Magnetic Ray: Sets atrophy on targets.
  • Telekinetic Ray: Move a target from one location to another.
  • Astral Warp: The Beholder teleports itself to another location.

Eye Of Flame:

The Eye Of Flame has the ability to melee attack with it's teeth, and has enough AP to cast 6 eye rays per turn along with it's fire-inducing main eye ability.

It possesses the following skills:

  • Eye of the Beholder: Sets any character's in the Eye Of Flame's gaze warm, and gives them an additional status which reduces their fire resistance. Ignites surfaces within the Eye Of Flame's gaze and deals a small amount of fire damage.
  • Fire Ray: Deals fire damage and sets burning. 1/3
  • Fire Ray: Deals fire damage and sets burning. 2/3
  • Fire Ray: Deals fire damage and sets burning. 3/3
  • Blinding Ray: Blinds characters.
  • Maddening Ray: Sets mad on target characters.
  • Searing Ray: Deals fire damage and burns through the target's physical and magical armour, removing some of each.
  • Fear Ray: Terrifies characters.
  • Source Ray: The Beholder steals a source point from the target to prevent them from using it, or to use it themselves if you give them a source spell (arcane stitch is my personal favourite so they have some sustain).
  • Anger Ray: Taunts the target character.
  • Telekinetic Ray: Move a target from one location to another.
  • Astral Warp: The Beholder teleports itself to another location.

Shadow Beholder:

The Shadow Beholder has the ability to melee attack with it's teeth, and has enough AP to cast 6 eye rays per turn along with it's blinding main eye ability.

It possesses the following skills:

  • Eye of the Beholder: Deals a small amount of poison damage and blinds anyone within the Shadow Beholder's gaze.
  • Enervation Ray: Deals poison damage and sets decay.
  • Blinding Ray: Blinds characters.
  • Slowing Ray: Slows and shocks characters.
  • Cursing Ray: Deals physical damage and curses characters and surfaces.
  • Flaying Ray: Reduces all the resistances of the target character and destroys magic armour, as per the polymorph ability flay skin.
  • Strength Draining Ray: Drains characters strength by giving them the weak status, reducing the damage they deal.
  • Sickness Ray: Infects characters with an infectious disease.
  • Death Ray: Deals cold damage, instantly kills if the character's health is below 30%.
  • Fear Ray: Terrifies characters.
  • Telekinetic Ray: Move a target from one location to another.
  • Astral Warp: The Beholder teleports itself to another location.

Beholder (Alternate):

The Beholder has the ability to melee attack with it's teeth, and has enough AP to cast 6 eye rays per turn along with it's antimagic eye ability. This is a variant Beholder with the same main eye ability as the regular beholder, but with most eye rays replaced with alternate variants.

It possesses the following skills:

  • Eye of the Beholder: Prevents anyone in the cone from casting spells for a turn. Also protects anyone in the cone from the Beholder's attacks.
  • Maddening Ray: Sets mad on target characters.
  • Deathzone Ray: Deals cold damage in an area around the target character.
  • Chain Lightning Ray: The Beholder uses the spell chain lightning using its eye, requiring no source points and the AP cost is the same as the other ray attacks.
  • Polymorph Ray: Polymorphs target character into a chicken.
  • Regeneration Ray: Sets regenerating on characters. Usually used for healing the Beholder's minions, or damaging undead attackers.
  • Silencing Ray: Sets silenced and suffocating on characters.
  • Ice Ray: Deals water damage and sets chilled.
  • Cursing Ray: Deals physical damage and curses characters and surfaces.
  • Blinding Ray: Blinds characters.
  • Telekinetic Ray: Move a target from one location to another.
  • Astral Warp: The Beholder teleports itself to another location.

Usage:

The Eye of the Beholder ability should always be used at the start of the turn to correctly represent the combat abilities of a Beholder. Due to the fact the Eye of the Beholder ability can be used at any point during the turn, it is necessary to GM the monster yourself when it is fighting players. If an AI is given control of the Beholder, it will use it's antimagic eye at the end of the turn, rendering the mechanic where the Beholder is unable to target characters in it's gaze obsolete.

Notes:

I did not create the 3D model. Full credit goes to BOUNCE for making this brilliant Beholder model and animating it: https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn2/model/bounce-beholder
