Vanilla Maps - REMASTERED
15 items
Description
This Is Cliffside Bay

This map is a complete overhaul of the base-game map, Cliffside Bay. The old map came with the game purchase, but I was never intrigued by the vanilla maps, so I decided to remaster every single one.

This map requires Mass Transit because I honestly dislike having a 3-lane highway running through desolate regions...
I will not make a DLC-free version, sorry folks =(
Get Mass Transit anyways, you're missing out!

Some Info

The vanilla map looked absolutely horrid to me. With crazy high cliffs and bland mountains, this was on the top of the remastered list because I knew this map would take a lot of time to renovate. And sure enough, it did take a long time, but I am satisfied with the result. This map was remastered many months ago, so my skills have improved ten-fold. I could re-remaster the map to my current standard, but that would take much longer than I'm willing to spend, so I give you this!
Since the map is called Cliffside Bay, there had to be cliffs along the shoreline, so I imagined them to what you see today. And yes, the lake is a bit odd with two rivers merging, then diverging away into separate bays. But I just wanted to keep things interesting ;)

[NOTES:]

This map can be played with either all 25 vanilla tiles, or all 81 tiles. There are no resources outside the vanilla 25 tiles, but there is still plenty of room to expand.
The fences that are in the factory area are custom assets from the Workshop. It's not really worth it to sub to them just for that effect. The area looks just fine without them as well. I'm keeping this map 100% vanilla, although pictures portray it to be 99% vanilla =P

Looks great, thanks. Hope BonBonB reviews it, for a higher profile. Thanks for the screenshots (sometimes people only put one) and connections specs (some authors don't list them then wonder why they get few subscribers). I'm subscribing but I've just started a new city on another map and it takes me far longer then "about 50 hours" to build :-)

It looks very good as usual, but from a vanilla perspective I can see a recurring problem with your interchanges even without testing the maps.

All lane arrows are pointing straight at highway exits and merges, which causes problems to the game's default highway rules. This allows cars to exit from any lane, and they probably also don't free up the outside lane for merging traffic. These will cause issues when volumes increase. Realistic looking isn't always the best.
