How to survive Barotrauma from a Legacy Vet
By thecrafter354
Now, most of us here are legacy veterans, but some of us are new players, this is a guide on how to not die as fast as I do, after hours of crafting shivs from cans in BTE Legacy and stabbing that comdom captain to death and taking his position, I transitioned to steam Barotrauma as most of us had. This is a guide based on my experience and how I didn't die half of the time.

Introduction
Okay so you stumbled upon this guide somehow, alright if you're a newbie and just bought this random ass game and want to know how to play, first of all ALWAYS use legacy controls, the new controls and keybinds suck ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for me. Second of all, if you see someone with a weird ass chestburster flying out of their mouth, don't go near that person at all unless you want that thing too.
Third of all, do not trust anyone in a clown outfit, even if they are tooting a bike horn at you asking you if you want some fuel rods to blow the reactor up.
Actually Surviving
(OUTDATED INFORMATION BUT CAN STILL BE APPLIED TO CURRENT VERSIONS, THIS DISCLAIMER WAS WRITTEN ON 10/5/2021) Alright so what you wanna do at the start of the round is grab a diving mask from a nearby storage container, get that ♥♥♥♥♥ and put it in your toolbar, second of all, find bandages and a flashlight, you'll need it if you wanna survive, don't hesitate to "borrow" oxygen from dead people if you find them, they won't be needing it and you will be wanting it if half the ship is gone. Oh yeah a diving knife is also kinda helpful if you wanna defend yourself, get two of those and duel wield them akimbo and you can cause a nasty cut in someone. Medics are your friends if they aren't confirmed traitors, if you see a traitor, knock them out if you can with a stolen stun stick and throw him out the air lock without a diving suit, he ain't gonna be bothering you no more. If you manage to break into the ship's armory, take whatever you want, I'm sure security don't care.

Now, time for some situations.

Hull broken and creatures on board, numerous people are dead: Make your way to the nearest armory or get your own weapons, beat the absolute living ♥♥♥♥ out of anything that tries to stop you. Get your weapons and kill all the creatures on board, then patch up the hull with a welder.

Anything that harms you physically: Slap some morphine and a bandaid on that ♥♥♥♥♥ and you'll be fine. (As of 12/25/2023, I'm changing this up a little, sometimes you'll get bloodloss from cuts, so it helps to have a bloodpack on you.)

Anything that harms you through fire or oxygen loss: Oxygenite my man, oxygenite. Bandages and ointment for burns though.

Traitor or a husk: Use your chad arsenal of weapons you "borrowed" from the security guard, beat down the traitor and handcuff him, then eject him out the airlock, for husks you wanna just beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of them.

(UPDATED INFORMATION, will be updated with more entries if i feel like it)
Mudraptors will ♥♥♥♥ your ♥♥♥♥ up, as someone in the comments said, being a good leader/competent as a captain will keep you alive. Stay on your feet and keep your head on a swivel when you got sonar pings. It pays to keep a diving knife or an oxygen mask or some weapon or life saving tool on you at all times.
Conclusion
♥♥♥♥ anything up that goes near you or presents a threat, Stab that comdom captain, do whatever you want, go masturbate in the ballast or just in general be a threat to the security of the ship.

don't under estimate anything, a crawler raid or mudraptor infiltration will FUCK you up even if you're prepared, everything is subject to murphy's law in the harsh oceans of europa.

As an experienced Barotrauma player, I'd say: never understimate black moloches

I'll be sure to add that when I can, most of the information is outdated as of right now, I have to play a few public lobbies and try different things to make this guide as good as I can make it.

Bandages won't cut it for the first part, if you're a regular player take at least x2 Morphine and at least one Blood Pack or you're fucked in the end. Also, don't trust a single person and prepare to kill them whenever you have the chance because they'll probably just murder you, especially sec.

im a legacy vet and i gotta say to watch out for people as a medic or captain. although security doesnt give a shit about whatever gets stolen from armoury you have to make sure as a medic that your morphine stores dont run out from the nearby chucklefuck crowbaring the door open and just injecting himself with all the morphine because I PrEsed SpaCe AnD FelL ANd TOoK 1 IntErnAl DaMaGe. as the captain... well be competent. If the crew actually thinks your a good pilot and can handle ordering people around (assuming they listen to your authority) they might refrain from causing a mutiny 10 seconds in. Being a competent leader is especially useful for ship v ship since you can usually make atleast ONE nuke from disassembling flashlights and fuel rods before you encounter the enemy ship :captainclown:
