Description
2020-04-14 Woodland map is published!

Woodland is a map taking place in a semi-dense conifer forest. It opposes two factions in a circular map with a well-defended objective in the middle.

The map is performance heavy and requires a good computer to be run at higher graphics quality.

Amount of recommended bots is 80. The map has been balanced as best as I could.

Meta

Eagles start in two objectives connected by the river: Main Operations Base and Lumberjack Camp. Ravens spawn at the opposite of the map in Forward Operating Base.

As teams leave their spawns, a clash will have already started between Lumberjack and FOB. Without intervention from the player, both of these bases will stay stable during the beginning of the match.

Ravens will need to capture Airfield to get access to an helicopter, while Eagles have one from the get go. Eagles will instead focus on capturing Checkpoint wich will allow them to spawn closer to the battlefield without having to cross a bridge.

The first team to capture Bunker is gonna have a huge advantage. Indeed, this spawn is not only extremely well protected, but has a direct connection and line of sight to every spawn on the map. Being underground and with only two tight entrances the bots can use, the largest one being protected with a TOW, makes it a hard objective to retake. A secret entrance can be used by the player on top of the mountain, marked with a flare.
It's also the only objective that spawns a tank.

As there is not much cover in the long stretches between objectives, the player is expected to use a vehicle most of the time, wich they will also be able to use as cover. Quads respawn instantly and are found in all objectives except Bunker. Jeeps respawn relatively fast, and Helis and Tanks have a longer respawn timer since their presence on the battlefield is oppressive.

After these first few stages, the battle will be random, and actions from the player will decide the faith of the battle.

All bases have items in common: a radio, a ressuply table wich heals and refills ammo, and lots of cover. Barbwire damages soldiers so watch out!

Ravenfield seems to have an issue with the user created maps...they're either too small, too big, too empty, or too cluttered.

This map falls into the too empty category. The map looks beautiful and is OK to play on but just OK. In reality I think two of the points on the sides could be moved to be more centered and there should be more vehicles and/or little trenches and bunkers in different points of the map.

I noticed too that some sounds are not tied to audio settings (GG steelraven no master volume slider). I find it allright but since a lot of people seem to disagree I will reduce it. Thanks for playing the map!

EDIT: It could be my fault, the noise of the starting audio doesnt seem to be tied to the ingame audio settings(which I have low), and I have my main volume on around 74, so maybe thats why it was loud for me and everything else is normal?

Yeah sorry, uhm, firstly the map looks fantastic so good job! Second, its whatever audio plays in the start of the map before troop selection, I don't know if thats radios or what, but it was extremely loud.

Hey !Newo please be more precise, are you talking about the capture point radios? I've played the map at full volume and their sound was still bearable for me.
